I told Bill that wherever I went yesterday, the natural surroundings were about as pretty and as close to perfect as they could get.
He took Bridie fishing at Trout Creek for the afternoon.
Meanwhile, I took Foster and my camera with plans to drive to Clark Fork.
I never made it there because between our home and the Drift Yard east of Hope I began to feel beauty overload.
No problem with that.
It's just that I kept stopping to take pictures.
All too soon, the clock on the Subaru dashboard said it was time to turn around and get back home to turn the horses out for their late afternoon pasture.
It's pure joy to be so immersed in the beauty around us that we can forget about pretty much everything else.
Instead of a ball peen hammer going off in our heads with each new thought like the character in Kurt Vonnegut's "Harrison Bergeron," I'd say a steady stream of endorphins kept me totally distracted from all things ugly while admiring lavender, purple and white lilacs; orange, blue and pink wildflowers and the deep blue waters of the lake, almost to its summer level.
Simply put, the trip was the absolute best of eye candy from start to finish.
When Bill came home from fishing, he asked, "How was Clark Fork?"
"Never made it there," I said. Too much beauty and too little time.
Adding to that excitement, a gorgeous Memorial Day weekend awaits us.
It will be filled with emotions as we remember those we have lost, but their memories will be enhanced all the more with the beautiful flowers, shrubs and magnificent sights of spring.

In other news, while having a bite of lunch, I saw a pictorial report on Facebook that former student Heather Killen had just received her doctoral degree from the University of Maryland.
Of course, it's always fun to congratulate former students like "Dr. Killen."
While looking at the collage of photos for her Commencement, I learned that Kermit, the Frog had given the Commencement address.
A few minutes later, I watched an interview with Kermit whose key message to the University of Maryland grads (Jim Henson is an alum) was "Life is better when we leap together."
So, let's try to do more team leaping!
Enjoy the video.
And, one more Congratulations, Dr. Killen.
CB and Lily decided for a time yesterday that life was better when they ate together.
My blueberries are looking good so far. I'll put netting on them this year before they look too good for our resident Bambi herd.
Below: a great stare-down yesterday as the squirrel feeling perfectly safe kept Bridie's attention as she lay on the other side of the door.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.
Be safe. Have fun, and remember.
