Big switch today from yesterday's January Ugly. Looks more like January Gorgeous again outside in the west window. Gray billowy clouds are moving off to the east. Montana can have our rain now.
The rain did not stop all day, and the temperature remained relatively warm. When we came home from Willie's basketball game and dinner at Eichardts last night, huge lakes had appeared in several fields along Selle Road.
This morning we had a dusting of new snow, and it was cold enough that I had to hold both barn door latch snaps in my gloves for several minutes before they would slide up and down. Same was true with the snap on the barnyard gate.
I've checked out the weather forecast for the next week. It looks like Sandpoint may actually have an ideal winter playground both on the mountain and down here on the flats. Such conditions rarely happen during Winter Carnival week.
So, we drew some good luck this year. Thank you, Mother Nature. My days of griping and groaning through winter have been pretty limited thus far. Hope it stays that way.

Congratulations to those Eastern Eagles----national champs in their college football division. I'll count myself as one of the many who figured the game was going to be a blow-out for Delaware.
We had to leave at halftime for Willie's game, and we did so with no concern that we might "miss something."

Well, it appears we missed a miracle comeback. The Eagles effort from being down 19-0 to win the game 20-19 in the fourth quarter has to be one for the record books.
And, with Vice President Joe Biden there to watch his Delaware team, it's for sure this game will be talked about for a long time--- probably at length.

Today is a big sports day at this household. Seahawks and Saints at Quest Field. I've heard tell that our Annie will be there in the stands. I don't know who she'll be pulling for, but I can tell you that her dad will be praying for Saints all the way.
In my mind, whoever wins will be a plus.
Willie has another JV game this afternoon, but we'll probably miss that one cuz it conflicts with the ZAGS league opener. If the television gods (those here on earth who seem to care nothing about their viewers who ultimately pay their salaries) decide to keep the right channels available, we plan to watch the ZAGS at 5:30 p.m.
Sloppy joes and basketball at my sisters' house---a good menu.

Tomorrow will be more sport----at the fairgrounds. It's the second and last formal practice for next week's skijoring. So, I'll go once again with my camera to see if the numbers of participants and spectators continue to grow.
If all works out according to my wishes, I'll get to write a story for the Appaloosa Journal on the event. The editor had never heard of the sport----like so many others---so she's open to a story.

I've seen a few Appaloosas while watching the practices, so the story will have credibility and interest among the magazine readers.

I keep looking out that window and seeing more blue skies coming this way, so it's time to call it a day on the blogging and get out there to enjoy.
Happy Saturday.
