Big night in Sandpoint as Pend Oreille Arts Council (POAC) ArtWalk 2014 begins at 27 venues around town.
One proud mama and mama in-law here as our Debbie experiences and coordinates her first-ever Artwalk, with a whole lotta help from her friends, the POAC Board and the local arts community.
And, Willie participates in his first-ever show, displaying three of his photos, taken in Ireland. One was professionally framed (it's with his wall collection below), and he came by yesterday to get some help framing the two above.
Then, we went down to the POAC gallery to see his other photograph, along with exhibits by my sister-in-law Joyce Brown and my sister Barbara Tibbs.
I snapped some photos of their work on display. Disclaimer: please keep in mind that the real works look much better than my quick snapshots.
Willie, Joyce and Barbara have joined 13 other teacher artist/educators at the POAC Gallery just north of the Panida Theater at 302 North First Avenue.
Just below is the brochure with artwork by Bill's former boss at Idaho Dept. of Lands, Ed Robinson. His work will be on display at Sunshine Goldmine, while his wife Karen and son Ben's can be seen at Bricks and Barley.
Tonight's opening of POAC Artwalk promises a festive evening around town as artists show off their work and businesses host art lovers with a variety of refreshments. Plus, most artists will be selling pieces from their exhibits.
On this 37th ArtWalk for Sandpoint, lasting until Sept. 12, all who participate by visiting the venues can win prizes through the Artwalk Passport, available at POAC Gallery, Idaho Pour Authority, Zany Zebra, Santosha Imports and Serendipity Unique Boutique.
"Have your passport stamped at the above locations (27 artwalk venues) and return to the POAC office by Sept. 12. Your completed Passport will serve as your entry into a drawing for POAC Performance Season Tickets and MORE! No purchase necessary. Need not be present to win!" ---ArtWalk Brochure
Lots of fun in store for anyone who likes visual displays both inside and out of business in downtown Sandpoint.
Check it out! We'll be proudly supporting our family members at the POAC Gallery between 5-8 p.m. See you there!
