"Here's your birthday present, Mom," Annie announced at Second Avenue Pizza last night while playing Santa Claus at our table of 10. We had eaten our pizzas, calzones and sandwiches, so she decided it was gift time.
Items from her trip to Europe came out of a bag, and were passed around the table to each person. Bracelets, a baseball cap, ties, a beautiful scarf and, yes, that equisite and beautiful rosary.
It was a lovely, meaningful early-birthday surprise, to be cherished forever, and to say that I feel blessed on this day for many, many reasons is definitely an understatement.
Since everyone rolled in from California and Seattle yesterday, we've had some unscripted excitement and we've enjoyed a lot of laughs during this first segment of the "company's comin'" weekend.
And, the dogs are happy too. They love having visitors and for this particular weekend, pine cones seem to be the toy of choice.
A busy day lies ahead. Happy Saturday.
