Saturday Slight

All over but the remembering AND that hopefully will last a long, long time.  The photos above hardly tell the story, but they represent the many aspects of our fabulous 50th-year reunion for the Sandpoint High Class of 1965.

A few classmates are coming by this morning, and then they'll be on their way----in Rick and Janet's case, with a mission in mind---to be back home in time to watch the Oregon Ducks football game later this afternoon.

If there is such a thing as perfect, this reunion came close.  Our weather could not have been more beautiful and the smorgasboard of possibilities for classmate participation exceeded all expectations.

Three sets of golfers tied after the final hole, so everyone won.  Bill Love and Terry Gray supplied plenty of food for thought as about 25 showed up for yesterday morning's hike, birding adventure, geocaching search and ultimate photo ops along the Pend Oreille Bay Trail.

Hickey Farms folks, with Jim Holt providing the information, took us on a fun, albeit a bit dusty at times, tour of the magnificent old dairy turned---pumpkin patch, beef cattle establishment.  What a beautiful and expansive piece of property with 360 degrees of breath-taking views.

Both nights of classmate gatherings were filled with happy faces, big hugs, posed photos and very special moments----like when Ruthann Kiebert Nordgaarden's granddaughter Osaze Ogbeide showed off her singing talent that landed her in both All State and All Northwest Choirs when she was in high school.

Osaze now attends North Idaho College, working her way through financially. Phenomenal young lady.

The good ol' metaphor of "herding cats" came up a few times as last night's crowd got organized for the "group picture."

And, just for fun, reunion committee member Judy and I mimicked the way we were gonna feel when all was said and done.

Yes, the bodies do feel that way but not the minds. They're filled with reflective satisfaction with a very successful, monumental and happy lifetime event.

I could not provide an image of the emotion-filled faces in Western Pleasure lodge as a special tribute to our lost classmates was played.  Classmate Maurine Marks Wheatley, with help from Mike Parkins and Janis Puzuhanich prepared the power point visual with Carrie Underwood's "Temporary Place" as music back-up.

We remembered those we've lost and celebrated the lives we still appreciate.  Our class includes a very special array of people, and this reunion reminded us of that in every way.
We're from Sandpoint, couldn't be any prouder!

Were horse ovaries served at this reunion?
