The Elks was full. Old friends/classmates, some of whom hadn't seen each other in 10 years; others, 50-----they came together and visited for hours.
Some wonderful surprises---as a few unexpected faces appeared at the door. As with all good times, it sped by all too fast.
Just as this morning is speeding by all too fast.
Soon Bill and I will head to the Pend Oreille Bay Trail where we expect a good turnout on this gorgeous September day of Remembrance of a very sad time.
We intend to make September 11 a day of remembrance for our classmates---good remembrance, as we hike and talk and then head to Hickey Farms where we'll ride people movers, tour the farm and "BS," as Jim Holt puts it.
Then, Bill and I will come back home, take care of animals and then pray that the new old motor makes it up the Gold Creek Road to Western Pleasure. I've been storing all the props we need for tonight's dinner at the Lodge.
If all goes right, we'll have the lodge ready for the next party, and we'll take off on a wagon ride through the Western Pleasure Ranch woods.
We'll come back, pose for a group picture and then start another night of festive feasting and fun.
If it's anything like last night's gathering, we may even blot out some of the sadness of this date, replacing it with genuine nostalgia our classmates will savor for years to come.
So far, I like this 50th.
Happy Friday.
