Wet, Scary and a November Morn
It's not often we get too excited about taking pictures of wet stuff outside, but yesterday offered no choice AND it offered some scenes we haven't seen for months.
The steady downpour also offered good excuses to tend to stuff inside that has received little notice for months. Heck, I even folded some clothes, threw away some clothes and organized some clothes on the shelving in the bathroom.
That happens maybe once a year or when stuff falls on the floor every time I try to stuff more on the shelves.
I also read a lot yesterday. I watched a lot of sports and dried outer garments in the dryer at least three times. It was that wet every time I stepped outside.
We received a thorough scrubbing, and finally, after months of hard pan, we might even be able to dig into the dirt and get a little mud rather than dust.
It was an enjoyable day from start to finish, and today looks pretty pleasant for returning to the outdoors, especially cuz everything is so clean.
Bill started his winter project which takes up a lot of bad weather time----tying flies. He watched sports too. It's a great sports weekend--especially the Breeder's Cup races. And, we can look forward to more great sporting events today.
Of course, we'll watch Seattle, which brings to mind----a Seattle-related opportunity.
I saw in this morning's paper that there's a 12th Dog Contest for dogs who support the Seahawks. I'm thinking about entering Foster. He does have his Seahawks jersey, and I could maybe put him in one of the 12th Man bags we have here at the house.
I'll check the rules, and if it looks like a go, I'm gonna be asking for some widespread support cuz it's one of those online voting contests. Nothing I'd like better than to take Foster back to his original Seattle digs and watch a Seahawks game.
So, be warned; there may be more obnoxious campaigning, even after the people elections have ended. Foster's mighty cute, and he could make the perfect 12th Dog.
Just sayin'!
Anyway, there's a Green Bay Packers--Denver Broncos game later today. Until September when Bill and I attended the Seahawks game in Seattle, the only other NFL contest I had ever attended was Green Bay and Denver.
It was a pre-season game, and I believe it was 1974. We went to Lambeau Field with my brother and his wife Mary who were living in Green Bay at the time.
I actually can't remember who won the game, but I do remember how nice all the fans, both in the stands and in the restrooms.
They were like a bunch of old friends----so it was a great memory.
Of course, Halloween did not disappoint---except for one item. My friend and neighbor Bradley did not show up, dressed like a woman. Every year he has been stunningly beautiful.
I heard from his cousins that he looked pretty good and his mom even said she'd tell him to come by. Didn't happen.
The fact that he's pushing 18 may have had something to do with his absence, but I sure did miss seeing him this year.
His little brother came though and brought a friend. I was told by the friend that he was a dead jester. Coulda fooled me. Both the tiger and the jester were very polite, as was Larisa.
Turns out she did NOT come last year because as a second grader, she went trick-or-treating with friends. So, she made sure that Mom brought her to the Lovestead last night.
She had shed most of her outfit (which she personally selected from Wal-Mart), but as a gesture to Marianne, the camera lady, she got herself gussied up for the photo.
As always, Bill and I thoroughly enjoyed our trick or treaters. Bill probably enjoyed them even more than I did because Bradley didn't come, which meant more candy bars left in the dish.
This morning I saw that my daughter has aged significantly since the last time I saw her in September. That 37th birthday last week must have hard on her. The scary company she keeps could probably put a few years on anyone.
Overall, it looks like a great Halloween. Fun to see people having fun.
Finally, the photos at the bottom were taken just a few minutes ago because the scene outside with its somewhat ominous darkness clearly sez NOVEMBER. Only five months until Daylight Savings Time!
May it be a good month for everyone. Happy Sunday.
