Loving Thoughts of Cazzie

It didn't matter how well you knew Cazzie Brown.  You knew that you were in the presence of a phenomenal human being.

This former football player, beloved high school head football coach and award-winning educator from Utah had that kind of impact on pretty much every person he ever met.

We, of the Love family, are a couple of degrees of separation from Cazzie and his lovely family, which includes his wife Heather and his amazing children Bishop, Judge and Marla.

Cazzie and Heather are a portion of the "outlaws," which I have lovingly called the members of my sister-in-law Mary Thompson Brown's family.

As they were growing up, our kids, Willie and Annie, spent some good times with Heather (Mary's niece and Beth Thompson's daughter) and her Thompson cousins.  All have remained friends as adults.

And, so, this past weekend, we, like the wide, wide circle of Cazzie admirers, hoped and prayed for a miracle after learning that Cazzie had contracted spinal meningitis and was on life support in a Utah hospital.

Sadly, Cazzie passed away last night and oceans of tears have continued to shed.

So, in respect for his memory, his immediate family and for all of our dearly beloved "outlaws," I leave you with a link from the Deseret News.

I also dedicate this morning's post to Cazzie, whose legacy shines brightly in his beautiful family and within the huge circle of lives he has affected so profoundly in his daily travels.

RIP, Cazzie, and blessings to all who loved and admired him.

Finally, a message from Cazzie's friend Manzo Hodge:  As you start your week start it with respect, dignity and love for those who are here to love.
