Saturday Slight
Annie and I enjoyed a little touch of Ireland last night. Her flight was later than usual so we knew we'd miss the Friday night dinner crowd.
Hence, it was a no brainer to stop off at O'Doherty's in downtown Spokane, one of our favorites for many years.
As usual, the Maui Wowie sandwich offered a delight in every bite. I think Annie had her usual stew.
Last night we met Shannon O'Doherty who told us he'd never been to Ireland. I told him that if he ever goes, he may just meet some other Shannon O'Doherty's, since we had met two Patrick O'Sullivans in the same day on one of our trips.
Anyway, it's always good to enjoy anything related to one of our most favorite destinations ever.
After O'Doherty's, it was on to Sandpoint with the usual order called in to Second Avenue Pizza the moment we turn off the freeway and head north across the Rathdrum prairie.
Annie's sausage and pepperoni pizza with extra sauce was ready when we pulled in to the pizza parlor, which was wrapping up another busy day.
That pizza, by the way, usually lasts the weekend during Annie's visits. And, she's getting a bonus this weekend because her dad will purchase Second Avenue pizzas for our Super Bowl eatfest tomorrow.
Soon after we arrived home last night, Hawaii 5-0 was on, and we were able to see a "Sandpoint connection." One of the characters in last night's episode, Rebecca Birdsall is the sister of two of my former students, Jeremy and Lisa Birdsall.
Pretty neat to see her last night and recognize a definite family resemblance.
I read this morning that today could be a big day for yet another Sandpoint product. NFL great Jerry Kramer is hoping someone besides the maid service knocks on his door today.
If that someone is from the NFL, the former Green Bay Packer legend will know he has, at long last, been chosen for the NFL Hall of Fame.
Let's keep our fingers crossed. I'll keep an ear to the window cuz even over the wind chimes which are very active with this morning's breeze, I could possibly hear a whoop of joy from up the road where one of Kramer's relatives lives.
Good Luck, Jerry Kramer!
Finally, it's GAME DAY, and I'll probably wear my prayer beads/ZAGS beads to watch the game tonight at my sisters' house. It's TIME for the ZAGS to take care of that BYU jinx that has overtaken them IN THEIR OWN GYM the last few years.
Let's hope the Bulldogs can nip those Cougars several times and come out with a win.
GO, ZAGS --- 7 p.m. PST on ESPN2.
Top o' the Morning to Ya, and Happy Saturday.
