It was "vet day" at Tibbs Arabians yesterday, very significant for some, just a poke in the neck for others.
Little CB and Arty probably had the most traumatic experience. They are spending their first morning today as full-fledged but maybe a little sore geldings.
Dr. Grace and her assistant Susie spent about three hours at the place, performing surgeries, giving 4-way shots, doing Coggins testing (for interstate travel) checking teeth and filling out health reports.
All went well for all concerned, probably because the vet and her assistant had a few 4-legged purring aides to help out.
For CB, life is involving some major changes. If all works out okay, on Monday, he'll be leaving his friend Arty and moving to his very own stall here at the Lovestead.
He spent the winter at Colburn because his very own stall was filled with a winter's supply of hay. It's empty and ready for occupancy now.
More than likely his first few months over here in Idaho at my sisters' were ideal for the little guy cuz he had a best friend and a bunch of older horses to show him the ropes.
Plus, that indoor arena for playing OUT of the mud has been nice too. He'll be getting acquainted with Lefty, rather quickly, and Lily, with caution.
I'm pretty sure Lily will be nice to him, but we're going to take that introduction slowly.
In the meantime, I've been getting slowly introduced to some other new occupants of the Lovestead. Last night, in fact, we were so up close and personal that we almost had a tea party out on the deck.
The two deer who showed up last week do seem to be ubiquitous of late, and I'm thinking they're almost fearless of humans.
I also figure they were scouting out the posssibilities in the front yard and around the house when they slinked into the yard around 6 p.m.
At one point, I stood about 20 feet from one and took all the pictures I wanted. Both obliged for more photos and then took off to the woods.
This is the glory of spring (in some ways). One never knows what will be heard or seen when stepping outside, and as long as everyone behaves themselves, the experiences will remain glorious.
I'm not holding my breath about the deer behaving themselves. For now, there's not much they can steal except for my admiration of their grace and beauty.
It's Good Friday. Wishing everyone a blessed holy weekend and some nice spring moments.
Happy Friday. Enjoy the photos.
Hi. My name is CB. I'm a gelding now. I guess that's good. |
