Saturday Slight

This morning started off well as seen from the eastern sky, but we're expecting a wild and woolly weather weekend.  Howz that for alliteration!

So far, so good, though---just cloudy skies and brisk wind out there.

On this Saturday, my sisters have headed into Spokane with two horses. Barbara is putting on a trail class basics clinic today at Spokane Equestrian Center, and I think she'll be having Laurie do some demonstrating with her horse.

It's also Laurie's birthday.  We did some celebrating the other day with lunch, but Laurie's enjoying exactly the kind of birthday she loves today----fooling with horses and enjoying the company of horse people.

Happy Birthday, Junior Photographer!

Today is also the Hunger Bowl at Huckleberry Lanes.  It's a fundraiser for the Bonner Community Food Bank, so, of course, Debbie's involved AS is Willie.

Debbie told me Willie would be participating in the bowling, and she asked if I'd come and take pictures.

Our last family experience at that bowling alley evolved into a story that comes up from time to time. The kids were fairly young, and we decided to do some family bonding at the bowling alley.

So, we got our shoes and our gear and went to our assigned lane.  I do not remember what unappreciated act we did  or who did it during that outing, but I do remember that the regulars did not appreciate our presence.

Maybe Annie and Willie can come up with some details, but I know that we left feeling a bit scorned.  Bill just told me he remembers something about dropping a bowling ball on the lane. Don't know who dunnit and probably would never tell anywho.

So, it could be the first time in about 30 years that a family member or two shows up at the alley, and let's hope we behave appropriately, especially in honor of the Hunger Bowl.

From what I read in the paper, teams which have made a $200 donation will be competing today and there's also an open window of time for individuals to bowl.

Should be a fun experience, and I assure you that I'll keep my hands off the bowling balls.

I don't have a lot of confidence about bowling balls anyway cuz one time in my college bowling class, when I thought the ball was going down the lane, it hit the inside of my ankle instead.  Twas definitely an OUCH!

I'll be checking in on horses at my sisters' during the day too and playing with CB.  Just a couple of days and he'll be coming to his forever home.

I've been telling Lily and Lefty that they have a new little brother coming soon, but they're not showing a lot of interest just yet.  That will change, I'm sure.

Yesterday turned out to be a most productive day---a plum tree and rose bush pruned, cucumber seed planted, more flower beds mucked out, three horses groomed, baby lettuce moved to the greenhouse, more hay in the barn for the horses, etc.

Twas extremely satisfying to spend most of the day outside and to see progress in the spring clean-up.

All in all, life is good and hopefully soon to get much better once we make it through the upcoming weather event.

Happy Saturday.
