It's been a cyber-villain type morning, so I'm behind schedule and writing quickly on what seems to be the slowest computer around.
It's working somewhat better now, so I'll do my best to limp along with it.
I managed to stay pretty close to home yesterday and enjoy a relatively quiet day at the Lovestead. Today we're being invaded IN A NICE WAY.
I'm thinking some relatives and the "outlaws" are gonna come to spend some time with CB. I told him this morning he was going to have company, perhaps even the young folks who gave him his name.
So, CB's out there in the pasture filling his tummy and getting ready for the company.
I knew they might want to fill their tummies too when they came so I did take off for town yesterday afternoon to buy some treats.
Before reaching the end of Selle Road, however, I had to stop. The neighbor kids were running a lemonade/cookie stand. The sign said the scones and other goodies were gone, but cookies and lemonade were still available.
If you look at those cookies, you might just say they look mighty good. I'm here to tell you that they were beyond that, and Bill will concur.
I purchased a couple of cookies, and we both agreed this morning that between the Selle Valley Carden school food fundraisers and these kids, we've got some great tasting ahead for several years.
For locals, mentioning the fact that many of the kids minding the stand are direct descendants of the folks who started Miller's Country Store should validate my claim that those cookies were the best.
After returning from town, I received a text from Willie with a photo. He had just flown over the Lovestead with his friend Andrew who flew his plane to Sandpoint from Seattle a couple of weeks ago.
Before heading home to his wife and daughter who had driven back to Seattle yesterday, Andrew took both Willie and Debbie up for a spin beneath the neat clouds and blue sky.
On Debbie's go round, I took the dogs out to the lane and my cameras. In between waving during their fly over, I snapped some photos.
It was a neat interlude in the late afternoon, and it would be an understatement to stay that both Willie and Debbie were pretty stoked with their experience.
There's a photo among the bunch where some of you may recognize the guy in the white hat.
The little lady in the lavender hat is the daughter of my former student and friend Erica Curless.
So, without giving anything away, I'll repeat once more as I have so many times in the past----there's that Sandpoint connection again.
The photo was posted on Facebook yesterday afternoon from the Calgary Stampede, and I can tell you that a few folks who commented (myself included) were wishing Quinn would pack her buddy in a suitcase or maybe even a horse trailer and smuggle him across the border into the good ol' US of A.
Many of us would be very happy to make a fair trade, with no excessive tariffs and maybe even add a generous bonus to boot.
My only fear is that Canada won't let him go!
Lifetime experience for Quinn, and some day she'll realize just how monumental that moment was.
Another lovely day ahead, so that's all for now.
Happy Sunday to all.
