Farewell, American Hero

11 hrs
I honestly don’t care about political correctness or whatever side of the aisle you may be on. Today? To me? We lost a great American Hero: John McCain.

RIP sir, God Bless you, And during this awful time for your family? God bless the each and everyone of them too.

My favorite John McCain story was told to me and Mary by a friend, Joe Crecca. Joe was a POW who was in the cell adjacent to McCain's cell at the Hanoi Hilton.

Joe shared a memory of a day in which McCain had been brutally interrogated and tortured.

Severely injured with traumatic injuries, he (McCain) was thrown like a sack of potatoes into his cell by the North Vietnamese guards.

A few minutes later, Joe heard a tapping on the wall between their cells.

On deciphering the tap code, Joe understood McCain's message to be asking, "Are you OK?"

 Incredible story.

It’s time to rest now John. You’ve done more than anyone could ask of a patriot and country man. Thank you and bless your family.

Always admired his character. You didn’t have to always agree, but he was of grit. True Blue.

THIS!!!! And as this great patriot passes into the beyond, I am reminded that Standing Up for what is right and good about the people of this country and all of us is an AMAZING THING.

He really gave 'that last full measure of devotion' through the end. Rest In Peace, John McCain ....

  • John McCain's finest moment (for me) came in 2008, when a woman at a rally referred to Obama as an Arab.

"No, ma'am," McCain replied. "He's a decent family man, a citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with."

    That's manning up.

I love you forever - my beloved father
