Happy Mother's Day; Saturday Album

I enjoyed a nice visit with these "twins."  Turns out the one on the left is sister-in-law to our former veterinarian, Cherise.

Fun ladies.

~~~~~
Twas a day filled with sunshine, horse enjoyment and fun peeps, many met for the first time.
Bill and I attended a fundraising dinner for the local Waldorf School last night as guests of our friends and neighbors, Trent and Tricia.
Trent and Tricia are parents of Terra, who works with and rides Lefty as a 4-H project.
When Terra came in the morning, we led Lily and Lefty up from pasture and groomed them.
While I saddled Lily, Terra worked in the round pen with Lefty and Miss Kiwi supervised.
Later, we both climbed aboard our horses for the first ride of the year and our first ride together.
At first, Lily was feeling her oats a bit too much.  I should say I was feeling that Lily was feeling her oats.  So, we just walked around the barnyard.
A few minutes later, after those potentially explosive oats went into remission, we plodded out of the barnyard and enjoyed a great time riding the pastures, the hay field and even a bit on the road.
It was thrilling for me, riding Lily, to say the least.  I've heard enough horror stories about friends my age going through horse accidents and "breaking their bodies," so I'm most aware of the potential.
Once Lily settled into a mode where I wished that I had put on my spurs to urge her into a little faster mode, I settled down and just enjoyed the opportunity to ride the fields and to ride with Terra.
She never skipped a beat.  Her experience over the past couple of years showed.
We both had a great time and are now looking forward to many rides ahead.
The fundraising dinner at a local hangar took us into an entirely different world.
With a theme of "Under the Big Top," most folks came in costume.  I told Tricia I was coming as myself.
I also noticed a husband and wife pair where she dressed up in a lion suit while his costume consisted of carrying a lion tamer's whip hanging from his belt.   Easy Peasy, for sure.
I didn't expect to know a lot of the Waldorf parents but was pleasantly surprised to run into a few former students, including Kristine, whom I probably have not seen since she graduated in 1991.
Twas a fun and relaxing evening, and I can report that the school made a few dollars (putting it lightly) through donations and sale of auction items.
Bill and I came home with a new bird bath, which has already been placed out in the yard.
Thanks, Tricia and Trent, for including us in the fun!
Happy Sunday to all and Happy Mother's Day.
The Hawkins family rarely disappoints, even when it's not dealing with salad dressing.
This is Doug Hawkins, Jr. who wore one of the more interesting circus costumes, which included a beard that did not always stay put.
Great to see Kristine after all these years.
She has moved back to Sandpoint and works as a physical therapist.
Doug Hawkins' wife Stephanie has grown some impressive eye brows since her days at Sandpoint High School.
Trent and Tricia were nice to their guests and pretty much came as themselves.
