Lovely Day in Mother Nature's Kingdom

It's difficult to adequately sum up May 12, Mother's Day 2019.

I just feel grateful, as most moms do, to be reminded that the gift of motherhood is to be cherished.

Yesterday was about as perfect as they come with Mother Nature's spring season bursting with ubiquitous, bucolic beauty.

I said to Bill on the way up to the picnic ground across from Porthill that I wish we could have May all year long.

We had the peaceful and lovely picnic area all to ourselves, as we often do.

We had a "chef," who prepared one of the best meals I've ever eaten.

To say Willie cooked up an extraordinary meal seems almost an understatement.

Chicken and tri-tip kabobs masterfully prepared (like candy, as Bill said), his own melt-in-your-mouth cheesy potato recipe, veggie and pineapple kabobs, a lovely salad---every dish begged for a second helping, and I answered the call on a couple of those begs.

Willie's berry cobbler with whipped topping gets better every time he prepares it.

We had Canadian horses across Boundary Creek displaying their beauty and carting a bird or two in lush green grass and keeping an eye on us all through our stay.

We got downright giddy and goofy on trips to the outdoor john on the fish and game wildlife management area.

We relaxed and visited and just plain enjoyed the surroundings and each other.

We wished Annie could have been there.  Some day she'll be home long enough that we can make another trip up that way.

On the way back, we stopped for apple trees loaded with blossoms and to check out a wild, rushing stretch of creek separating the United States from Canada.

Nothing else to say, 'cept it was a glorious day from start to finish.

I'm one lucky mom and part-time grandma.

Thanks!

"Precious" Annie couldn't come, but she was with us, in our thoughts, throughout the day.
