Out and About

I took the high road.

Figuratively speaking, that's something I try to do as often as possible.

Literally, however, yesterday afternoon, it was a high road which kept going up and up and up.

I would have continued but could not get my mind off from those two open gates I passed through along the way.

What if someone closed them before I returned!

So, I finally turned around and headed back down the mountain above Highland Flats.

I wanted to keep going because I have no idea where that road goes, maybe up to Roman Nose.

Maybe Bill will come with me next time.  When you're with a forester, they seem to know all the roads and who owns the timber.

Yesterday's drive to McArthur Lake, Wyman Wildlife Refuge and Highland Flats near Naples made a nice afternoon getaway after having a nice morning horseback ride on Lefty.

This week was supposed to be a quiet catch-up week, and, for the most part, I have caught up with most of the "to do's" that had been somewhat neglected of late.

Plus, having unscheduled time on my hands, for a change, opened up opportunities which have not existed for several weeks.

Riding my horse Lefty was one of those.

We had a good time plodding up and down the road where Taylor's cow herd raced along their fenceline curiously checking out the lady on the horse.

We visited Guy Meserve at the next-door Meserve Preserve.  He was mowing his lawn.  Usually, we're both mowing on the same day.

Guy told me a while back that one day he expects to meet me and my lawnmower coming around the corner at the road right-of-way which we both mow on our respective properties.

So far, that hasn't happened and no fender benders!

Lefty and I also took a trip through the woods, which was fun because most of the pesky mosquitoes and nasty bugs of early summer have disappeared.

Besides the horseback ride and the afternoon drive, my day was enhanced all the more with news from Joel (the wizard) that my desktop computer was ready.

A fan filled with dust turned out to be the culprit, so this morning as I type, the computer is back to working like a charm.

My laptop always comes through in a pinch, but having this big screen on the desktop is always a plus.

Because of a last-minute scheduled day trip to Montana with my sister, beginning at 6 a.m. this morning, this post will be published earlier than usual.

More adventures and more spontaneity.

Glad this week wasn't scheduled cuz all the opportunities that have popped up have been great.

Life is good.

Happy Wednesday.

Off to Montana to see some pretty horses!

McArthur Reservoir is being drained this summer.

Quite a different look than usual.
