Border Security, Snow Globing, Et. Al.

We are feeling safer than ever.

To all potential invaders, you have been warned.

Border Security is active 24-7 here at the Lovestead.

We now have electrified fences, wolves crossing through our farm and Border Collies patrolling the premises, both inside and out.

Security systems don't get any better than that.

So, we'll move on, and this morning, I found it very easy to move on freely pretty much everywhere we wish to go.

A new coating of snow covered up the sheets of ice around the place.

Now instead of slip sliding away, it's crunch, crunch, crunch.

I loved walking back and forth in the darkness in front of the machine shed at the end of the lane and listening to each crunch echo off the walls of the building.

By the time I made it back to the house, hat, jacket and boots were covered with snow.

Last night, while using the flash on my camera, I discovered that the snow could offer some rather artistic images in the darkness.

Pretty stuff this time.  I just hope it stops so we don't have to plow.

Today marks the Feast of the Epiphany, as well as a good day to have some epiphanies.

I hope the folks running our government experience a few "a-ha" moments soon----actually, a LOT of "a-ha" moments.

Much needed at that level these days if we're going to preserve this thing we've spent our lives proudly calling "America."

In other news, it's back-at-it day for lots of aspects of our society as the holidays officially end and we rev up toward the goals we've set for this year.

First, I guess I'd better turn my Christmas lights off.

My big dreams this year include schooling for CB, our family trip to Ireland, a better-than-ever garden, a 55th class reunion and dressing up the place for a group of geocaching-related visitors this summer.

So far, I know we'll see folks from Belgium and England.  Annie hasn't provided the potential guest list yet.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of geocaching, so there's a big party planned in Seattle.

Prior to that, some of Annie's friends from around the world will spend some time in Sandpoint.  Bill and I look forward to hosting them and showing them our beautiful area.

On the subject of geocaching, the Geocaching Junkie, Sarah from Northern Ireland, is back posting on her blog after taking time off with her new daughter.

I enjoyed reading her post from December this morning and look forward to her upcoming adventures with her toddler.

The big plan for summer involves a complete fence-painting project.  Annie told me I don't really need to do that, but, in my mind, these events provide reasons/excuses to do such things.

Lots on the agenda for the year, but this week, we're looking forward to attending one of Willie's basketball games and just plain getting back into some sort of groove.

Retirees may agree that when every day is a Saturday, it's hard to do that.

We'll figure out something.

Happy Monday.
