A Good Day to Read

It's a rainy, dreary Sunday morning, definitely a great day for some reading, so that's what I'm going to leave you with today.

First comes a piece written before New Zealand's election where Prime Minister Jacinda Adern was re-elected for a second term in a landslide.

At 40, she has amassed an amazing worldwide following, especially with her leadership in keeping New Zealand's Covid cases to an unbelievable minimum.

This story also had a few paragraphs that really excited me.  Jacinda is 40; tomorrow our Annie will turn 42.

It's very likely that the two have crossed paths because Jacinda graduated from the University of Waikato in Hamilton on the North Island.

Annie spent six months in New Zealand in Hamilton on an exchange with the University of Waikato.

Who knows, the two may have even had some classes together.

Also, like Annie, Jacinda spent some time working as a deejay.

Willie and Annie had their own radio show "Ten9" while students at Boise State University

Anyway, the article presents an extensive view of this remarkable world leader.

Hope you enjoy.

From Ireland's Oldest Citizen, 107-year-old Nancy Stewart

https://roscommonherald.ie/2020/10/16/a-heartwarming-letter-for-ireland-from-107-year-old-nancy/

Overnight, my cousin Mary posted the letter referenced in the link above on her Facebook page.

Took no time for her words to resonate.

After reading this lady's upbeat, reassuring take on a life at her age at a time when Ireland faces more restrictions, I thought it was worth posting a few lines from her letter.

You can read the entire piece by clicking on the link above.

Seems like her thoughts about faith,  communication and caring about others are becoming a common rallying cry these days as we soldier on to combat both the virus and the ugliness that permeates the world around us.

Happy Sunday!

A portion of Nancy Stewart's letter. . . .

Keep talking to one another. All my life I have always believed in chatting and drinking tea and saying a prayer or a decade of the rosary and it has got me through.

This is our moment to keep our faith and to keep believing that everything will turn out ok.

We must try to make sure we leave nobody behind and also that we don’t lose sight of each other. This is a moment for humanity to step forward to take care of the other.

We must mind ourselves but we must also mind all those around us. Look up and smile even if you have your mask on.

Your eyes will smile and that might be all someone needs to keep going.

No good deed ever goes unnoticed so try your best to keep being good.

We are not here to live for ourselves but tolive for each other.

And . . .
