Snow-White Monday

We were all pleasantly surprised yesterday afternoon while doing our best to stay warm in my sisters' arena that chocolate cake and ice cream actually tasted pretty good even if we were cold.

Our big family Valentine gathering lasted about 45 minutes, but we had a party and did some rare visiting.

So, that was good.

I told Bill that maybe yesterday's gathering would be the last such where the MISERY factor played a key role.

Next time we anticipate a family event is about six weeks off. By then, the "frigid" may graduate into just plain cold.

If last year's early April Pandemic birthday party offered any example, though, we may be waiting a little longer to X out bundling up every way possible and still freezing.

Still, we do what we have to do, and, at least, we created another family memory, albeit a cold one.

This morning snow is falling, and that is a good thing.

The new coating means that all the yellow mounds and pathways right outside the garage door have turned snow white.

During the big freeze of the last week, our elderly Kiwi has not wanted to stray too far from the warmth of the garage to do her No. 1 business.

After a while worn-out ice and dirty snow accented with yellow creates a quite a sight, certainly not one we could call "eye candy."

So, for once, I'm glad to see a little extra snow this morning, especially because we may actually have a visitor come into the driveway.

Obviously, he will not come into the house, but he would not miss the yellow accent to our entrance.

No longer a concern.  He's a geocacher, THE LEGEND, in fact, of geocachers.

If the weather's not too bad, Mount10Bike himself will join Bill and Annie in pursuit of three caches, otherwise not accessible in other times of the year.

All three involve a water craft at any other time, but with the big freeze, the geocachers can walk to each.

Should be quite an adventure if it works out.

So, that's our Monday.

Have a great Presidents' Day.

Stay warm.
