Saturday Slight

The kids, Willie, Debbie and Annie, have a long road ahead today.

They leave Iceland and return to puppies and family in North Idaho.

An Icelandic lighthouse.

They not only took in the natural beauty of Iceland and its culture this past week, but they also performed their share of International relations via basketball.

This morning Willie, Debbie and Annie returned to Reykjavik for one last visit with Icelandic basketball coach Agust aka  "Gusti" his wife, who's an airline attendant, their sons Dominic and Gabriel and 95-year-old Grandma, who still drives.

With a couple of baskets on the deck, there was also some hoop action during the visit.

Note to Agust and family:  come and visit us in North Idaho.

Agust presented Willie, Debbie and Annie with Icelandic national t-shirts in return for the shirt Willie gave him earlier this week after visiting his school and interviewing him for a podcast.

This exchange of good will comes as no surprise with this trio.

Granted, they are family and we may have a little bias, but along with that comes great pride in the fact that they exemplify the good in this world, especially in their appreciation of other cultures.

Tonight, after a long day of travel, around midnight, they'll be back in Sandpoint and crashing into their own beds.

More than likely, their much needed sleep will include sweet dreams of a week well spent.

Good job, Young Loves, and thank you once again for sharing.

You're from Sandpoint, and WE ARE PROUD of you.

And, back in North Idaho . . . .

Today will be busy, preparing the Lovestead for the Fourth of July festivities.

To my friend Cathy (not Patti) with whom I spent time in the Yoke's meat department the other day, just letting you know that my pork roast is fully cooked and ready for pulling.

I still have to go back to the store to buy fresh corn, but most of the menu for tomorrow is on sight.

This morning will be spent mowing lawn.  The white clover has taken over so it's time to cut it down to size.

Bill will probably work on final details for setting up the travel trailer.

We'll have nine here for the Fourth Feast.  That includes my sisters, Willie and Debbie, their friends Andrew, Alicia and Emma and Annie who will be staying for the next week and working remotely.

Lots of fun anticipated, even with the hot weather.

Happy Saturday.

Last night we (Bill, Barbara, Laura and I) decided to give the newly located and reopened Cafe 95 a try for Friday-night dinner.

We're pleased to share that the reviews from all of us are excellent.  Food is plentiful, tasty and reasonably priced. Service was friendly and amazing even with a large crowd.

We spent some time visiting with Claire whose family owns the restaurant and, in the conversation, learned that their daughter Lucy, who was helping her dad cook, is on Willie's Cedar Post staff at Sandpoint High School.

We'll go back, especially because it's on the north side of town.

Good luck, Cafe 95.
