Canadian singer Anne Murray has always been one of my favorites.
I couldn't help but think of her when my sisters told us last night about an evening news story had revealed that Canada will most likely open to vaccinated Americans in mid-August.
That revelation fit right in with the theme of Anne Murray's 1980s award-winning hit "A Little Good News Today."
Twas music to Bill and my ears to hear that bit of good news.
As noted in previous posts during the Pandemic, we plan to be among the caravan of Americans crossing the Canadian border the day it reopens.
Having spent a lifetime taking it for granted that we could always go to Canada cuz we were so close, I must say that the closing of the border back in March 2020 signaled a dramatic, tangible message that a major freedom in our lives had definitely diminished because of Covid.
As of last night, we can begin the planning to visit the beautiful land north of our border.
We don't know what we'll do to celebrate the reopening, but at the very least, we'll drive up to Creston and have lunch---if we can find a restaurant that's not packed with American visitors, that is!
In other good news, on Monday, Ireland officially opens to vaccinated travelers.
Here's the scoop.

We are hoping to stick to our plans of visiting the Emerald Isle in late September-early October.
It's not that easy, even though we have vouchers for our air travel.
The availability of non-draconian travel schedules is extremely limited right now because of the cancellation of so many flights that were available before the Pandemic.
And so, we are researching possibilities which might offer a little extra fun, adventure and relaxation to go along with the air travel.
Adding to the complexities is the cost and availability of rental cars, or lack thereof.
All that said, we are resolute in not giving up unless a big brick wall emerges, telling us "you can't do this."
Life is short, and we are old, so before we get even older, we really want to take advantage of our capability to travel.
So, on this Saturday morning, Anne Murray's "good news" spurs us on, knowing that hope to get away is on the way.
Plus, in other news, there's a greenhouse out there with a bunch of dead bees and a few more lurking in planting containers.
I removed dozens of planting pots this morning and threw some with bees' nests over the fence.
With luck, I'll make it through the daunting project of removing all contents from the greenhouse before it warms up again and without getting stung.
Some items will be hauled to the dump while much will be put aside until the new greenhouse arrives early next week.
All the while, I'll probably be humming "a little good news" or maybe even "Oh, Canada" in my head while my "Irish Eyes Are Smiling."
Happy Saturday.
