Bill had gone to Spokane to attend a Gonzaga women's basketball game.
Having done double duty with the garage purging and my usual outdoor chores, I had already racked up 15,000 steps for the day, and it was just noon.
So, I decided it was time to get out of the house and to sit while doing so.
Oops, I may be giving away one of the reasons for my afternoon drives with a camera.
Indeed, the drives around the countryside do give the legs a rest, but the images brought back home provide a much better excuse for these brief outings behind the wheel.
Bridie had gotten in trouble AFTER I thanked her for her patience while staying in the crate as Mom and Dad cleaned the garage.
Trouble came when I discovered she had been so patient because she was busy, once again ripping off the bandage on her back leg.
This time, I had no medical assistant to help me re-bandage the wound. Border Collies are quite adept at wiggling out of pretty much anything.
In fact, remember back in the days of Brooke and Todd staying at our place when I thought I could keep them in one of the barn stalls. This was before we had the run built.
I had no more made it back the house when they almost beat me to the door. Apparently, they turned sideways to get between the boards cuz I knew they couldn't jump over.
Well, yesterday, as I cut bandage to have everything ready for a quick application, that little dog wiggled and squirmed and rolled and did everything possible to escape the medical attention.
Finally, I managed, though, and I'm happy to report that she still has the same bandage this morning. I'll also report that it took a bigger Elizabethan collar to keep her from working at that hind leg.
Anywho, after all the hullabaloo with Bridie, I decided it was probably more efficient to have me with her in the car than to leave her behind.
That decision did not go over well with Liam and Foster who were told they needed to stay home to watch the house.
Luckily, once we leave the driveway, we can't hear Liam's wailing.
Bridie and I took the Gold Creek-Rapid Lightning Creek loop east of Selle yesterday afternoon.
There's still more than enough winter up that way, but I was pretty amazed at how nice all the roadways were.
It's a pretty drive, which takes about an hour.
It includes several farms, Western Pleasure Guest Ranch, lots of homes hidden down long driveways, some pretty scenes of Rapid Lightning Creek, and, of course, the Pack River Store/Restaurant.
I really enjoyed this form of afternoon relaxation filled with beautiful winter scenery. My sidekick seemed to have a good time too.
She hasn't quite gotten to the stage of sitting all perked up in the front seat looking at the scenery, but she definitely feels at home in the car.
I have a feeling we'll be enjoying lots of quality time as she gets older. Plus, she'll stay out of trouble.
This morning, after looking at a new Facebook post by Suzie Sullivan, I decided to feature some sample of her work.
Suzie lives in beautiful Westport, Ireland, County Mayo.
I became acquainted with her work when Bill and I visited Kylemore Abbey in 2019. I loved the whimsical nature of her art, especially with the Border Collie scenes.
So, I purchased a batch of note cards. Last year, knowing that I'd used almost all the cards, I made a point to stop at the abbey to purchase some more.
It was evident that the Pandemic had affected the usual supply chain of gifts on display at the abbey.
Wanting so much to give some cards to my daughter-in-law Debbie, I visited Suzie's website.
She was so nice in helping me decide what was best for purchasing the cards and dealing with their shipment.
Amazingly, after my purchase, I received my order in less than a week.
As we continue on our journey as Border Collie lovers, I see such truth in the whimsy that Suzie creates.
You have to own a Border Collie or two to fully understand that statement above, but Suzie's whimsy makes sense. Plus, her artwork has a touch all its own.
So, if you're a Border Collie and art lover, check out Suzie's site. She works in different media and directs her talents in a variety of lovely ways, exquisitely so.
If nothing else, a trip to her site will make you smile.
Enjoy!

One of the "angels" who has so graciously made it possible for Bill and me to attend Gonzaga games in the Kennel must be the happiest college basketball fan on earth this morning.
He's a graduate of the University of Arizona; he has served on the Board of Trustees for Gonzaga University and, for decades, has provided generous support to students attending the university.
Gonzaga is ranked No. 1, while Arizona, coached by former Gonzaga assistant Tommy Lloyd in his first year as a head coach, is ranked No. 2.
Doesn't get any better than that for my friend Pat.
Pretty cool for all concerned.
Happy Tuesday.

I sure love the images you capture. I am so glad you included Don's old cabin. We are trying to figure out how to preserve it for the next few years. We sure would like to preserve that piece of Gold Creek history. Next time stop by and say Hi. Janice
