A wet week lies ahead, but thankfully some distractions almost every day should help us through.
For indoor sports today through Thursday, we can fill out NCAA brackets in offices, at home, online wherever convenient.
ESPN and CBS Sports offer those brackets.
I notice that our Friday Night Diners group has carried over for this year. Administrator Barbara has already sent out reminders and reviews of the group's rules.
I'll also be entering the Sandpoint High Staff pool WITH MONEY to win more or to lose all.
It takes time and lots of strategic thinking to fill out three sets of brackets for each pool, and a lot of raindrops can fall during that time.
So, if you want to avoid the doom and gloom of our week of ugly weather, get involved.
You can do so for free----heck, you could enter the CBS individual bracket contest, and if you win, you'll get a car and a trip to next year's Final Four.
You don't even have to be a basketball junkie. As I recall, some years just the opposite won the brackets in our faculty polls.
Once the brackets are filled out and submitted by Thursday, you can make a copy or check online after each game is completed and see how you are doing.
It's not uncommon for even the most astute basketball fan to foul out the first day, so it's pretty even ground for all involved.
Good luck.
Yesterday when it snowed all morning and then started raining in the afternoon, Bill and I used a slot of time before Selection Sunday and spent some $4.06 gas to get out of the house and go to Clark Fork.
It was needed, especially after the snow had erased all hopes of gaining on spring. At least the clocks cooperated.
We drove around town and even on a street where I'd never been---in Clark Fork, no less. When I commented that I'd never seen the church on the corner, Bill told me that it was the Lutheran Church.
Across the way in a field stood the old barn at the top. I asked Bill to stop so I could take a picture.
While we were there, the Lutheran minister and his family came out of the church and we enjoyed an ever-so-brief conversation.
We also drove a ways up the Spring Creek Road to the old Clark Fork Fish Hatchery. Bill says someone else owns that now.
Spring Creek was pretty yesterday, even in the rain or maybe because of it.
Our two-hour sojourn provided the perfect break for a yucky day.

Speaking of basketball junkies, earlier this winter I, along with a bunch of other friends, entered the realm of Yellowstone junkie-dom.
I'd always heard about the show over the past couple of years and had even recorded it but never watched until maybe last November.
And, yes, I'm a true junkie. The show may seem a bit superficial, but after watching a couple of episodes, I found it riveting and fascinating, not only because of the very timely storyline but also the character development and, of course, the gorgeous scenery.
I also found that the writer has paid close attention to detail in segments where knowledge of horsemanship and cowboy life are essential.
Anywho, it's a rainy day, and the following story provides an interesting overview into the show and why it has attracted so many followers from all political persuasions.
Enjoy.
