When you're the young 'un in the herd, you find other things to do besides eat grass.
CB is the resident fence tester around here. His methods have improved over the years as I seldom see him explode from getting shocked.
Someone's gotta check and see if the charger has been turned on, and CB's quite happy to do it.
Speaking of horses, there's a big event for horse lovers and betters and connoisseurs of beautiful hats.
Derby Day is always one of my favorite days of the year, and, tomorrow our home will revive its annual Derby party with decorations, eats, drinks, bets and, of course, fancy hats to go with our barn jeans.
Our group is small because my house is small, but the sitting around visiting, watching the neat stories about horses and their owners, placing bets ($1 a bet), taking a group picture and just enjoying the festivities of the day should be fun.
Betcha can't guess which horse I'm picking to win. Hint: I like his name.
We had a very rainy day here yesterday, but finally in the evening, the sun came out.
After spreading a bunch of pasture seed on Pasture No. 1, I strolled around the place, just admiring and taking pictures.
It's times like now that I wish time could stand still and that the landscape could just hold that pose.
Happily, but maybe not, the temperatures are supposed to go down in the next few days, which is good in one way, bad in another.
We'll have to protect our delicate flowers, probably putting many back inside and we'll have to pray that all these beautiful fruit blossoms don't suffer a killing frost.
It they do, that means three straight years of low productivity on many of our trees.
If they don't, oh what a harvest we should have?
The cold weather will be good because the flowers and the beauty will hang on for a while.
Fingers crossed that all the right things happen.
That's about all for now.
Happy Friday, and enjoy the photos, especially the bottom one.
