48

It's time for bridal wreath, and, in spite of all the strange weather, my neighbor Roxane's gorgeous  bush is right on time.

It's also time to acknowledge 48 years of being a Love.

On this day in 1974, twas hot and beautiful.  I believe the temperature reached about 95 degrees that day, and in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, which had no air conditioning, we noticed the warmth.

It not only came in the temperature, but also in the atmosphere of all in attendance as Marianne Brown said "I do" to Bill Love and Bill reciprocated.

My siblings and my sister-in-law Joyce made up the wedding party. Joyce was my maid of honor.

Joyce and Kevin were celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary that day.  Add 48 years, and you know what milestone they're celebrating today.

Fr. M. John O'Donovan (that's what he called himself at the time), officiated.

Chris Pietsch took pictures--a role he has continued to do for us over the years.

My friend Chris Moon went to the store in the middle of the reception to get more Hi-C punch.  With the extreme heat, the punch bowl was a popular spot.

Drill team members, Monticola staffers, 4-H'ers, softball teammates, colleagues, family and friends all came to witness the event.

Twas festive, to say the least.

This morning two cards sat side by side on the kitchen island.  The essence of both, one from me and one from Bill:  that we'll celebrate this long ride with a side trip to Ireland starting next week.

And, the very best part of that:  we'll be celebrating with our wonderful kids.

Happy Anniversary, Kevin and Joyce. It's already a happy anniversary for us cuz the sun is shining but not quite so hot as it was 48 years ago.

Happy Wednesday.

Then "Young Loves."

More recently "old Loves" in a place we both LOVE so much---Kilkee Cliffs of Ireland.

Soon!

Yup, it's been quite a ride, Bill!  Looking forward to many more years of LOVE!
