It felt good last night to be strolling around the place on a summerlike evening and NOT wearing boots.
Bill and I agreed that we would put off our anniversary celebration for a few days.
So, dinner was leftovers, and we both enjoyed doing odds and ends afterward.
One by one, I clipped horses' bridle paths while standing on my mounting block and reaching for them over the barnyard gate.
They love the attention and will happily stand as long as needed.
I also walked where I could to enjoy the latest flower show.
Our yard, however, is still saturated with standing water, which signals a good mosquito crop in the next few days or whenever the rain holds off for more than two days.
Tomorrow Dr. Grace will come and vaccinate CB and give the others shots for West Nile Virus.
CB will head off next week for a few weeks for a warm-up at his trainer Mary Marienau's facility. So, we're making sure he's fully vaccinated for being around other horses.
In an hour or so, a plumber is coming to replace the kitchen faucet. Seems like the place has its share of little repair needs.
Fortunately, so far, this year, there's nothing major.
Today Elisabeth comes to meet Bridie for the first time. Since she'll be spending a couple of weeks watching the place, it will be good for them to get acquainted.
I told Bill that about three quarters of my chore list focuses on Bridie stuff----mainly, put her in her crate when you're out of the house.
At almost ten months old, Bridie still shreds toilet paper rolls and does her artful arranging of boots, potatoes, waders, you-name-it in the garage.
Lots of last-minute stuff to do in the next few days.
The excitement of our family adventure has just begun as I type. Annie landed in Amsterdam after an overnight flight from Seattle.
She and other Groundspeak lackeys will be joining other geocachers at yet another big event in
The Netherlands this weekend.
The Netherlands this weekend.
And, later next week, she'll be tying in with us.
Lots to do between now and then, but it sure is fun knowing that this long-awaited adventure is just around the corner.
Happy Thursday.
Today, you'll have a chance to catch up with my friend Connie from Hope. One highlight from this post is that she'll be playing in a music gig and fundraiser this weekend at the Hope Community Center.
Check it out.

While making the rounds to check out high water situations, we saw this deer two nights ago at the Ginter Wildlife Management Area. |
Soon!
My sister Laurie, with her horse Percy, is competing in a virtual International competition for Western dressage.
My other sister Barbara videoed her workouts at Roxane Conrad's horse facility this week.
The constant rains have been good for my garden lettuce.
