Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain . . .

At least it waited until we were in bed sleeping.

Well, sleeping didn't go so well with all the thunder boomers and later, several sessions of pounding rain.

While walking through the produce department at Yoke's yesterday, I heard from a weather expert that our moisture levels pretty much match the property assessment valuations folks received this week.

Double the usual and even more.

Maybe the map below shows why we're still wearing barn boots and why the barnyards are still muddy and why the grass is growing and growing and growing.

I looked at my lawn west of the barn this morning and figured we'd need at least three days without rain before I dare to take the lawnmower over it.

Happily, the rain has stopped, sorta like it did yesterday after a night's worth of generous pitter patter.

Yesterday actually turned out to be a lovely day, so no complaints.

Still, it would be nice to have a long enough break (maybe two days) so people could start fretting about forest fires.

That's kinda how it goes in North Idaho.

Nice weather comes along, just gets settled in, and soon all the worries of another summer of smoke-filled skies keep people on edge.

Anywho, it's wet out there but pleasant.  So, I'm looking forward to the day and a busy week ahead.

We're to the countdown stages of our big trip.  Meanwhile, Annie's getting ready for another trip which will cross paths with our big trip.

She's headed to The Netherlands this week to spend a few days.  Then, she'll move on to Dublin where she'll work remotely, and eventually the rest of the Love's will show up and then we'll all travel together for a few days.

Willie has a big week ahead also.

A basketball clinician/ coach named Alex Sarama who has worked around the world and in the United States and with NBA players, etc. is coming to spend two days working with the SHS girls basketball team.

Alex is originally from England, where he began coaching at age 14 and never looked back.

He is currently traveling around the United States working with teams.

You can learn more about him by clicking this link.

Bill and I are excited that we'll get a chance to meet Alex later today.

In other news, I guess we have to keep closer track of those U-Hauls.

Seems they may have a small army (ready to riot) inside as one did in Coeur d'Alene yesterday.

The nationwide media attention about yesterday's event inspired Rich Benjamin to post a picture of his book on Twitter.

Whitopia is based on time he spent living in different communities around the country.

Rich lived for a few months in Coeur d'ALene, and during that time he spent some time with Bill and me and numerous other locals to gain perspective.

It's an interesting read, and sadly always timely.

The book is available at Amazon.com.

So, that's all for today.  Watch out for those U Hauls.  Ya never know what might be inside!

Happy Sunday.
