A Little REALLY GOOD News Today

I received the letter below in my email in-box yesterday.

It made me very happy, as it should anyone who values public education.

As a product of public education, a professional fully involved in public education for 33 years and as the mother of a dedicated public educator, I am thrilled with this vote of confidence in the system from Idaho Legislators.

Thanks to those who voted NO on this bill yesterday.

Once again, thanks to the amazing Luke Mayville for his tireless work in keeping watch, providing communication and leading the Reclaim Idaho troops to encourage legislators to do the right thing for the general population.

Yesterday was a good day for Idaho education.

Dear Supporters of Reclaim Idaho,

Just minutes ago, after a heated debate on the Senate floor, a bi-partisan coalition of Idaho Senators voted NO on the universal ESA Voucher bill. Senate Bill 1038 is dead.

This is a huge victory for Idaho that was made possible by the thousands of Idahoans across the state who took a stand for our public schools and said NO to vouchers.

Reclaim Idaho was just one part of a broad coalition of associations and stakeholders who fought this legislation at every step of the way. A big shout out to every organization and individual who stepped up to oppose this bill!

We are tremendously proud of the dozens of Reclaim Idaho volunteers who gave strong public testimony against SB 1038; the nearly 9,000 Idahoans who added their name to our Say NO to Vouchers petition; and the hundreds who engaged with us in cafes and on door-steps in the 19 rural counties we visited.

Together, we blocked legislation that would’ve defunded our schools and inflicted irreversible harm on our communities. At a time when well-funded special-interest groups are steamrolling our nation and implementing universal voucher programs in one state after another, we are holding the line here in Idaho.
