Monday Miscellany

It will soon be time to transplant.

The 'maters in the brownie patch are growing like weeds.  Happily, there are no weeds competing.

The pansies are also coming along nicely.

As for the rest of my indoor garden, it could use a little help and probably some more seed sowing.

Several of the pots are devoid of any plant life, even though the soil has been watered regularly.

Yesterday I added some lavender seeds in several pots.  Maybe they will produce some plants.

I don't know why baby lettuce turns limp in the planting pots. Maybe it doesn't in everyone else's.

Mine seems to be alive but it's looking pretty lackluster.

I'm figuring that by late next week, I may be able to do some transplanting and moving some of the starts out to the greenhouse.

It's nice to see that several days at the beginning of the week will be in the 40s, so maybe we'll finally get past the wintry feel.

I took this picture from the couch  yesterday just before the flicker dive-bombed the starling which was pecking away at the suet.

With the blink of an eye, the starling's meal was rudely interrupted, and the flicker was pecking away at the suet.

I watched this happen twice, and then, much to my dismay,  a SECOND starling showed up.

People who know starlings told me that might happen.

It seems that single starlings, designated as forward observers, go somewhere find food and then go back and tell the rest of their flock where the goodies are.

For now, two starlings is somewhat tolerable, but if more show up, I'm gonna have to find some ways to discourage them from hanging around.

The sun is out today, and our moods are upbeat cuz it's GAME DAY.

A big GAME DAY for ZAGS fans, in fact.

Both teams finished their seasons atop the West Coast Conference.

Today they hope to move on toward the titles of tournament champions.

The women play at noon PST today, and if you have the BYU channel, you can probably watch their game.

As you'll see it's a late nighter for the men who will tip off against the San Francisco Dons at 8:30 p.m. PST on ESPN2.

Should be some fun games.

GO, ZAGS!

Happy Monday.
