Twas a wild and woolly night around here from about 1:30 a.m. until about 6 this morning.
Our dogs did not appreciate the extended thunder and lightning storm.
Liam and Foster tried to stay as close to humans as they could get as the skies continued to light up and the earth continually rumbled.
Maybe the purpose was to help us remember that this is Mt. St. Helens day: 43 years after the mountain blew its top and spread volcanic ash all over the Pacific Northwest.
That was an epic time for those of us living in the path of the ash. At first, when the ash started dropping 300-plus miles from the mountain, it was just as spooky as last night must have seemed for our dogs.
Having never lived through the aftermath of a volcanic eruption, we had no idea what the future held for us, and we stayed home, mostly in our houses for at least a week afterward.
I remember the humidity, just like we experienced yesterday and last night before the thunder storms started rolling over.
We lived through the volcano with oodles of memories, and we'll live through last night's marathon storm.
Poor Liam. After a rough night, he has to go to the vet hospital today for shots and a wellness check-up.
He's usually good at the vets' but one never knows what a traumatic night can do to made a dog a little extra nervous.
I'm sure he will be fine, and it looks like our beautiful green grass will continue to grow and stay green after the storm's downpour.
No watering today, which is a nice change, and I did some more weeding in the garden this morning.
Meanwhile, off in Spain, Annie has reached a city where she'll take a day off from walking. She'll be living in relative luxury in her rental apartment.
It sounds like the overall experience is improving for her and that the cows continue to dominate.
She has already posted for today, so I've included two links to go along with the main blog link.
Enjoy.
This photo was taken before 5 a.m. today.
The aftermath of the storm left an interesting and uncommon brightness, not often seen at that time of the morning.
