Shingle Mill Golden Hour, Etc.

Twas just a 15-20-minute drive, but it was the "golden hour," and a dramatic sky loaded with big dark clouds competing with intense sunshine focused on all things to the east lured me to the car with my camera.

Ahh, what scenes I saw during that after-dinner interlude around the Shingle Mill Loop.

There's West Shingle Mill Road and East Shingle Mill Road and Shingle Mill Road which intersects from the south.

I have no idea what to call the east-west road that connects West Shingle Mill and East Shingle Mill which run north and south.

Sorta like the Center Valley complex of roads where we live.

I do know, however, that it's a pretty loop lined with pretty little farms and the county's last dairy. There's also a Grumpy Chicken Woman on the East Shingle Mill Road.  She grows flowers to cut.

I actually talked to four people during my quick drive around the loop.

Adam Finney, who lives just up the road with his grandpa, was cutting wood at the Pratt place.

Randy (dad) and Garrett (son) Poelstra were visiting in front of the Poelstra barn where a sign reminds visitors to "smile" cuz they're on camera.

And, Suzy Van Den Berg was out on an evening walk with her two daschunds.

I enjoyed nice mini visits with all of the above while taking advantage of the supreme photographic conditions.

And, I arrived home in time to download the photos and watch Jeopardy.

Great Golden Hour last night, and those ominous dark clouds turned out to be bluffing, in our area, at least.

For Ma and Pa Love, today marks 49 years of marriage and, yes, a lot of Love.

Happy to say that I can still vividly remember that hot hot day in June when we exchanged all those life promises on the altar at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

My brother Kevin and his wife Joyce (Best Man and Matron of Honor) were celebrating their sixth anniversary that day.

Do the math, and you can see they've been married a while. Happy Anniversary, Kevin and Joyce.

Besides the heat, I also remember the Hi-C punch at the reception needed to be replenished so my friend Chris and her hubby ran to the store.

Lots of memories of the day and with the 17,993 days since.  I'm figuring eight leap years in that calculation.

When we talked about getting married, traveling ranked high on the list of things we both wanted to do. We had no specific plans of where to go when we traveled, but, as we look back, we're probably both pretty satisfied with that goal.

The rest basically played out, day by day, event by event and for the most part pretty satisfying, to say the least.

It's been a great run filled with LOVE.

Happy Anniversary to Bill, who is a patient man!

With luck, when we'll celebrate our GOLDEN hour of life next year, our Irish eyes will be smiling.

Below:  it wasn't an anniversary day but it was beyond beautiful the day we visited the Kilkee Cliffs on the west coast of Ireland.

Happy Thursday.
