Yup, it was ladies' day for the occupants of the Colburn Compound and the Lovestead.
The men went fishing on the Coeur d'Alene River AND stopped to get their special sandwiches.
They apparently "caught the evening hatch" cuz Bill arrived home around 11 last night.
While the guys were doing their thing, we women took off in Willie's Big Red for Bonners Ferry and a second visit to the Two Tone Grill.
Laurie and I had already enjoyed the neat dining experience amidst trees, flowers, bridges and ponds filled with koi fish and a huge majestic maple tree serving as the centerpiece.
For Barbara, Debbie, Alicia and Emma, the Two Tones was a new experience, and I think they approved.
Feeling in a festive mood, I ordered an enticing-sounding appetizer.
The Back Road fries smothered will all kinds of good stuff like onions and bacon and cheeses and honey mustard seemed to satisfy everyone's palate while the staff prepared the rest of our lunches.
Once again, Karla was a hit as the only server scurrying around tending to every need with absolute ease and precision along with some great story telling.
Karla told us that a lady who owns a couple of houses next to the restaurant designed and created the pleasant outdoor dining ambience.
Talented lady, that's for sure.
Once more, the food was great. When everyone commented on the tasty sandwich buns, Karla told us they come from the Bread Basket Bakery north of Bonners.
Lots of thought goes into each meal and the service is delightful.
I highly recommend this pleasant dining place, which is along the left side of the highway near the south entrance to Bonners Ferry.
Ladies' day turned out just fine yesterday. We'll have to do it again sometime.
Here at the Lovestead, "pickin' and grinnin'" time has officially begun. I'm picking blueberries and raspberries and lots of Sun Gold tomatoes.
The berries will go in the freezer for later projects like jellies and cobblers, while the tomatoes have a habit of going into mouths before they even reach the refrigerator.
It's also looking like I can rob some new potatoes from my two patches as portions of them begin to appear above the ground when I water.
Tasty times ahead, and the best part is the satisfaction of having planted the seeds to those savory experiences.
Happy Friday.
