Days at horse shows are long---for exhibitors, their entourages and staff.
Feet get sore.
Sweat pours down the whole body.
There's sitting.
There's scurrying.
Teamwork is a must in all aspects of a show.
As the horse show wears on, new friendships sprout and continue to bloom.
In spite of the moments of misery, it's a fun experience, filled with inspiration and satisfaction.
Yesterday marked the first day of horse-show, competition here at Devon Wood, a magnificent horse showing facility in Sherwood, Ore.
It was a warm-up and qualifying show for the Arabian Horse Association Region 4 Sport Horse Show.
English and Western dressage, jumping, cart horse events and halter showing make up the range of possibilities for exhibitors with their purebred and Half Arabian equine friends.
Yesterday, both Laurie and Roxzene qualified for this weekend's regional events.
It was a day that began with frustration for Roxzene, as her diesel truck refused to start the night before.
Happily, after Jody made numerous telephone calls, someone called back and said they could help. Turns out a gasket associated with the fuel line went bad, and it was an easy fix.
The day continued to improve for Roxzene as she placed in both of her classes.
Laurie had exquisite and beautiful rides on Pache and took two first place ribbons.
It's a new day and a new show today, so they'll be saddling up later this morning and competing on a higher level.
Wishing them good luck.
As for me, my feet did get sore after a day of walking around Devon Wood and admiring the beauty and amazing organization of the facility.
It's a good life being an observer.
And, the horses. So many beautiful animals, so loved by their owners.
I also made a lot of new friends, which is what life is all about for me.
I loved sitting back and walking around watching all the intricate action among exhibitors and show staff.
And, of course, I took pictures.
And, I was proud of my little sister.
Hope you enjoy today's album.
Happy Saturday.
