Light on the Subject

I think we are turning the corner on adding light to our lives.

It's coming at a good time too.  More minutes of natural light each day should be very good for whatever ails us either physically, emotionally or both.

Outdoor natural light provides an escape from the woes we face while cooped up inside, and it appears to be coming on strong.

I took the photos above and the one directly below this morning. The full moon helped.

I also turned the flashlight off as Bridie and I walked around the hay field.

With the next few days expected to be cold and clear, we should gain enough morning and afternoon light to see a noticeable difference in our days.

Then for several months we won't have to experience the winter darkness.  More light for enjoying each day, both mornings and afternoons, and more light to lift our souls.

Love it!

I've really enjoyed chatting with my friend Brad while going over to Roxane's to see the horses.

Like me, Brad is a talker.  You put the two of us together, and the horses, like Firefly, start wondering if anyone is ever going to pay attention to them.

He and his family moved to Sandpoint from New Hampshire several years ago. I got to know the family while teaching Brad's daughter.

He comes from a family of horse lovers, and he's sailed over a jump or two during his many years of riding horses. Enough so, that he gives lessons on jumping.

Yesterday, we were yakking at such a high level that I finally said we could surely talk all day but I was going out to see my horses.

So, Brad rode Firefly in the arena and I spent some time with Lefty, Lily and CB.

It was a great day to be with the horses.

This is a big week at Sandpoint High School and at Lakeland High School in Rathdrum.

Sort of a mid-winter celebration.  Having attended one of these, I can vouch that it's a wild, crazy and fun event.

Good luck, Sandpoint High.

For hockey fans and our neighborhood, it was neat to see the above graphic yesterday.

Former Boston Bruins goalie Tim Thomas and his family were our neighbors for a few years.

They lived just around the corner from us on Selle Road.

The family now lives in Vermont.

Congratulations, Tim.  This Selle neighborhood is proud of you.

We had a beautiful sunset last night, so the cameras were clicking.

Those of us valley dwellers who have enjoyed our winter walks are equally thrilled with the amount of snow on Schweitzer.

Outdoors folks, both high and low, are happy and loving the weather.

On this, the official birthday of Martin Luther King, wishing everyone a great Wednesday.
