It's Friday!

We had a hard freeze yesterday morning, and the earth glistened.

This morning, not so much---just a bit quiet and a little cloudy and not that cold.

Bridie didn't look for horses this morning, although she did plop down in her usual spot where I tie her while moving horses from the barnyard to their pastures.

I'm sure by tomorrow she'll have eliminated that action from her morning drill.

I carried a flashlight, and we simply walked around the hay field before returning to the house in what was still semi-darkness.

This morning we're wondering what happened to the Mariners.  Suddenly, the over-the-top excitement has been almost extinquished.

Two devastating losses to Toronto have turned the odds back to what they were at the beginning.

Poor Annie:  she managed to get a ticket to last night's game after having to miss the 15-inning Mariners victory on Friday.

I'm sure the outcome was not the highlight of her life.

Maybe those 15 innings followed by travel time sapped their energy in a time-release fashion.

The positive side: they're even, and maybe, they'll renew some of that hunger and energy today to move on to the World Series.

I just read this factoid:  They remain the only team of 30 in Major League Baseball to have never played in the World Series.

It's time.

Rest up, Mariners, and get your mojo back.

A neat project and a great story about it.

It's maintenance week for me:  doctor's appointment yesterday and hair appointment today.

I enjoyed the doctor's appointment with Dr. Robbins and a college student from Sandpoint who is working toward a degree as a physician's assistant.

Dr. Robbins and I talked about my ongoing gut problems, which have gotten much better but still cause me occasional concern or, should I say, urgency?

So, she put me on another plan with hopes that the condition will clear up completely.

It's been maintenance week on many fronts around here, including Bill's white pickup which may need a new alternator or something else.

I think Bill is hoping for alternator and not the "something else."  With luck he can bring it home today.

I'll probably pick up some leaves today and go see my horses.

Happy Friday.

It's such a neat feeling to drive past Selle Valley Carden School on a sunny fall day and see kids playing out in the big farm fields.

What an amazing childhood learning experience!

They will have "Little House on the Prairie-style" memories, for sure.

Lucky kids.
