Inspirational Girl Scout Fundraiser . . . .

I'm thinking about putting the bike rack on my car and taking off for a pedaling adventure somewhere today.

Maybe it will be some downtown biking; maybe Bonners Ferry and the wildlife refuge.  That decision will come later.

For a change, today is a fairly open day with just a few chores on the agenda.  Bill won't be around for dinner (fishing, ya know!) so I'll take advantage of the free time and go have fun.

My pedaling experience today will be more than miniscule compared to that of the ladies above.  They trained for months and then pedaled across the United States earlier this summer.

Their mission----besides the great adventure of their lives---was to raise money for autism research.

Known as Team Laughing Dog, Arlene Cook, Julie Bloxom Nye, Gina Pucci and Kathy Riba-Crane "took the challenge for something they believed in and demonstrated the confidence to persevere.

On June 24, when they completed their biking odyssey, the Laughing Dog blog http://teamlaughingdog.com/category/blog-2012/ featured their photo with the following information:   Official race time 8 days 3 hours 38 minutes. And they are all still smiling.

In addition to their individual and team adventure and funds raised for autism, they're helping yet another cause Oct. 9 at the Sandpoint Events Center.

They have graciously agreed to support the Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and North Idaho by speaking at the Sandpoint Community Leadership Luncheon.

The speaking engagement will be the first public address since their biking adventure across America.

The luncheon, besides its tasty menu and inspiring program, will raise funds for the regional Girl Scout organization.

As the promotional poster states:  RESERVE YOUR SPACE by writing to events@gsewni.orgor or calling 1-800-9478, ext. 204.

You can not only reserve a place at the luncheon table,  but you can also learn more about the process of donating to a very worthy organization, now celebrating its 100th year of existence.

Also, do pass the word about this event, featuring some inspiring former Girl Scouts.

These gals from Team Laughing Dog are definitely go-getters, as are their support team.  So, thanks, Judy Thompson, for your role in helping secure them as the guest speakers.
