Tuesday Twitterdeedum

Labor Day weekend is now a bagful of great memories, including the time spent here yesterday afternoon.

We arrived at Safeco Field in Seattle shortly before 11 for batting practice and walked out around 3:50 p.m. after the Seattle Mariners defeated the Boston Red Sox 4-1.

During the game, Annie and I enjoyed brats and kraut, while Bill had his Ivers fish and chips.  Of course, we all consumed several handfuls of peanuts.

The son of Sandpoint's Chamber of Commerce director, whom Annie knew at Boise State, sat in the row behind us, fulfilling that constant "small world" revelation.

Twas definitely a triumphant ending to an upbeat, fun weekend.  Within an hour we had left Annie's home and pulled on to I-90 for the trip home.

Except for a stop for some fun nourishment at DICK's Hamburgers in Spokane, we pretty much kept the car on task and arrived home around 11:15.

Loved coming over the Bypass at the end of a long trip, knowing home was a lot closer than ever before.

Dogs wiggled more than ever, expressing joy at our return.

And, so today begins a new routine with the beginning of a new school year.  I have a feeling Debbie will be arriving within the next hour,  and her familiar soft "Knock, Knock" greeting will alert us that Todd and Brooke are here for the day.

I am still feeling a few leftovers from the weekend.

This morning my shin muscles ache.  Yesterday it was a stiff knee---the same knee that usually screams out while I'm hiking---not afterward.

At the end of our 8-mile hike on Sunday,  blisters and a painful bone spur on my left foot begged to get out of the shoe that had traveled so many steps.

Oh, the body aches from getting old!  Wouldn't have changed it a bit, though.  A little pain on this trip translated into a lot of mental gain.

The weekend was one of those much-welcome breaks from the normal routine and to have it go so well sustained me with extra helpings of good memories, shared with Annie and Bill.

Coming home to happy animals who received good care and attention from neighbors, family and especially Willie provided added satisfaction.

All I can say on this lovely Tuesday morning is "Thanks, I needed that."
