Monday Memoosiae
In the 50s this afternoon, they say. Seems I've led off with similar information on an earlier posting.
Officially, we're kinda right back where we were a few weeks ago. Cleaning barns again cuz the barnyard's so mucky and miserable, lighting a fire in the stove cuz it's cold, and looking at snow, not just on the mountain but outside the door.
I guess last week's nice days were a teaser for good times ahead, maybe in two months.
Anyway, it's a cup half full day today. Any cups left outside in the past two days should be overflowing.
So, I'll working on overflowing with enthusiasm today.
The snow did have its good side. The folks at Schweitzer decided to keep the resort open for an extra week this year.
Don't know how this soppy weekend was on the mountain, but I'm sure the new layer of snow overnight is gonna make the powers-that-be pretty happy and the locals who want to catch a few more days of spring skiing.
John Pucci, who worked at Schweitzer for 46 years, told me yesterday he'll be up there tomorrow cuz it's supposed to be a beautiful day.
The other positive aspect of this morning's snow came in the form of pictures that sorta took themselves---ya know---like those stories that write themselves.
No cheating was needed to compose the snow photos above. I didn't even have to check the dictionary to express my thoughts on the back of my car.
Actually, the combination of white powder on deep green grass makes for some artistic scenes. So, enjoy Selle with its spring snow.
And, let's talk about Miss Moose. I know she's Miss Moose because I do have some pictures of her relieving herself in the neighbor's standing water yesterday afternoon.
I saw her when I went to town at 11. She was standing next to the fence under a protective clump of trees, just trying to stay warm.
I turned around----in my car----and came back to snap some pictures with my phone. She looked at me, then thought about lying down, decided she was better off standing and then calmly ambled further into the woods.
When I came back two hours later, I wondered if she'd still be there. Sure enough, lying down had become an option, and she looked perfectly comfortable on her bed of pine needles and umbrella of limbs.
Bill was home from church, so I asked him if he wanted to see a cute moose. I grabbed my regular camera, we climbed in the car, and we drove back to where Miss Moosie was still enjoying herself.
I took about two dozen pictures, and she never really got too excited, but she did get up and go relieve herself.
Since I have great respect for any lady's modesty, I'll not post the pictures of her in the compromising position. Still, I know she's a lady.
About an hour later, my brother and sister-in-law came for a visit. When they were leaving, I told them to check out the spot, and maybe they'd seen a moose.
Since they'd seen deer and a lot of turkeys in our neighborhood, the added excitement of a moose would be a great treat.
Two minutes after they left, the phone rang. She was still there, and they could add moose sighting to their visit to North Idaho.
I wanted to walk over there this morning to see if she was still there, but school buses and traffic has picked up with the end of spring vacation, so the dirt road scenes had to suffice.
Yup, my cup is overflowing this morning with the beauty of nature and the hope of that 50-degree afternoon following this brief winter interlude.
Maybe the 4-letter words will be reduced to 3 by day's end: SUN! YES!
Happy Monday!
