September Splendor

Annie has moved on to the Slovak Republic this morning.  The Slovak Republic seceded from Czechoslovakia in 1993.  It's that red country up there on the map.

After visiting the Slovak Republic, she'll drive to the Czech Republic and to Prague to the northwest for the European GeoCoinfest.

Finally, she will return to Germany for her flight home from Munich next week.

She said she had a wonderful time with Austrian geocaching distributors yesterday while visiting Vienna.  And, for mom, she did a thumbs up photo next to the Danube River.

As Annie moves on, so does the September splendor around here.  Yesterday I walked around the place andI took a few photos of the bountiful and colorful signs that fall is upon us.

Wish this time of year and all the garden goodies could last longer.  Last night we enjoyed a meal where at least 90 percent of what was on the plate came from this place or this immediate area.

Baked zucchini, baked potatoes, Wood's German sausage, rolls from Miller's Country store with plum jelly from the Lovestead.  Add a side of refrigerated cucumbers and tomatoes from the garden.

These were smothered in Litehouse dressing.  I have a bowl where every day I keep slicing more to put in with the dressing.

Pretty yummy.

I'm hoping to see the flowers around the place get a boost after sprinkling some miracle grow plant food on them.  That hot weather has done a number on them, and maybe if it cools off, they'll come back to the height of their beauty.

Right now, the pansies, especially, look pretty tired.

It's a great season, and it's only just begun.  So, there should be plenty of good times and good eating ahead.

Happy Wednesday.
