I was cruising along, pretty much staying out front and then that four-letter word you see in the photo above caused me to hit the March Madness bracketology brakes.
That abrupt turn of events started in late afternoon yesterday.
Was it Ohio beating Virginia?
Yes.
Was it BYU losing to UCLA?
Yup.
Was it the Texas shootout where Abilene Christian Wildcats ripped in to the "Hook 'em Horns"?
Absolutely.
Was it Gonzaga sailing, with their usual artistic basketball flair, to a resounding victory over Norfolk and sweet-looking Anton Watson having the night of his career?
No way!
That was ALL good.
But, I could still feel the sting. My once impressive brackets were busted big time.
The only consolation: many others in the pool where I was doing so well must have made equally wrong picks before submitting their brackets on Friday morning.
So, though busted, happily there's still some hope in my March Madness bracketology pursuit.
Plus, all the bracket busting in the world will not take away the continued devotion to the ZAG Nation, which is looking good as the first round of tip-offs have ended.
They make us proud, and each time they do so happens with victories like last night's, we all want so much more for them to realize their dream of achieving perfection.
The nun from Loyola Chicago and the President from Chicago both think that's going to happen.
So, we're in pretty good company.
In the meantime, the Madness will continue with some new stars enjoying their moments of fame and adoration. And, that's what makes it all so much fun.
To think that March Madness could ever get boring---I don't think so.
Last night's segment for us was divine, not only with the big win but also with the big gathering of family and food in Willie and Debbie's newly restored home where a big screen and plenty of sitting room allowed Mike, Mary, Laura, Justine, Barbara, Laurie, Willie, Debbie, Bill and Marianne to sit back, relax, eat and enjoy.
It was so well planned by our hosts that if we wanted to get second helpings in the kitchen, we wouldn't miss any action because a TV in the table area was also tuned into the ZAGS.
To say we were thrilled to be together inside for the first time in a year seems too understated.
So, we move on through the Madness with the ZAGS playing in Round 2 around lunch time tomorrow.
As noted before, I do engage in other activities while the marathon of games are airing on the TV.
Yesterday morning I walked around downtown Sandpoint while working on a photo assignment.
It's kinda fun to be in town on Saturday morning before all the hustle bustle of weekend activity begins AND much easier to snap a few photos while standing in the middle of the street.
Hope you enjoy.
On to the Madness.
Happy Sunday.
