While Madness reigns inside at the television set, the outdoor world transforms into a new season.
During my walk around the place yesterday, it seemed almost as crazy outside as inside.
Helicopters, jets and small planes were flying over along with winged creatures. While ducks quacked overhead, crows continuously shouted out from tree limbs.
And, ominous clouds rolled in and out, occasionally dropping moisture to the earth, which, on our farm, still includes pockets of ice, blankets of snow and a mixture of brown and green grass.
I keep checking for the crocuses, but they haven't made an appearance yet.
I thoroughly enjoyed the indoors-outdoors day, watching games indoors, often going outside to walk or rake or brush horses, walk dogs or to take pictures.
It was a nice blend and especially nice because most of the time I did not need to wear a coat or tromp around in big, heavy barn boots.
Spring was definitely in the air and, maybe just maybe, we've seen the last of the snow falling from the sky.
But, as everyone who has lived here for any amount of time will declare that this is North Idaho, which never lets us off easy.
So, we'll see, but for now, it's the perfect blend with some phenomenal and storied basketball happening inside, baby plants growing near the windows, while a mixed bag of weather events and creature activities are happening outside.
Lots of fast moving changes to keep us occupied, and that is good.
Link below: a neat story about communicating with animals, especially crows. I know from experience the assertive grudge crows will hold and demonstrate day after day if you so much as touch their young.
After nearly two weeks of unusually beautiful March weather, this first morning of Spring 2021 is reminding us that the calendar may say spring, but Mother Nature does things on her own schedule.
I'm hoping the weather holds of on any severity through the morning hours because I have to take some group photos a little later.
Then, it will be back to the television set in hopes of catching the last part of the Kansas-Eastern Washington tournament game.
Another great day of basketball lies ahead with the frosting on the March Madness cake coming this evening with the ZAGS first tournament match-up.
The game will definitely be a family affair since my older brother Mike and his wife Mary are driving over from Western Washington today.
The entire family is now vaccinated, with Annie receiving her shot on Wednesday. Nice that we can all enjoy each other again and feel safe while doing so.
Happy Saturday.
GO, ZAGS!!!
No. 1 Seed Gonzaga vs. Norfolk
6:20 PDT on TBS.
A last-minute and pretty cool Sandpoint connection with tonight's ZAGS game, sent from my dear friend and former student, Julie Knox.
Good Morning!
Just wanted to share ... We had an amazing surprise come Rick's way on
Wednesday. His brother Dave, who lives just outside of Indianapolis, was
offered Zags tickets through his son-in-law's work place.
So Rick (Moseley) hopped on a plane yesterday & will be attending the game tonight!!
They will be watching from the company "Beck's Seeds" suite with
food/drinks.
They will share the suite with a bunch of wealthy
farmers!! Rick & brother Dave are beyond EXCITED!! They haven't seen
each other for 2 years & get to spend a whole week together!!
A
dream come true!!
