Golden hour cometh and I must go.
Yes, we have arrived at that time of the year when there's time and brilliant radiance after dinner.
I took advantage of that golden hour last evening, after a day of change with the Lovestead beloveds.
CB spent his first night at Mary's.
My sisters came over and helped as we loaded the two horses in the trailer and then followed us to where Mary lives south of the bridge and on the way to Priest River.
It was an easy transition, both here and at Mary's, as horses loaded easily and Lefty, the "screamer" stood in the trailer at Mary's and screamed only a couple of times while we visited.
Lily was quite happy to see her Lefty come back home a couple of hours later. So, all is quiet in the barnyard this morning.
And, all has been beautiful both last night and this morning.
While spreading the hay around the barnyard earlier, I could smell the distinctive spring aroma cottonwood sticky buds, some of which have already made it into the house after dropping to the ground north of the barn.
I also stood at the barnyard fence and watched as a deer came into the yard from the south and slinked its way halfway across the north lawn before hearing me say, "Hello."
For a couple of instants, it stood paralyzed like a statue having a stare down with me. Finally, it was time to launch off and vamoose, bounding across the yard and sailing over Meserve's fence.
Sights and smells such as this truly enliven the senses, as we behold the wonders of nature and a glorious spring morning.
Last night's golden hour run lasted less than an hour, but the drive around Selle Road, Forest Siding and back to South Center Valley was packed with brilliant scenes, thanks to that early evening sun.
This time of year brings a whole new aspect to the passion of photography.
While I was out snapping photos, Bill spent some time in the woods, where there's another not so welcome aspect of spring: mosquitoes.
Yup, they've arrived at their usual time. It's a bit irritating, but in the grand scheme of natural things, I guess they've got as much right as any being to stay on schedule.
So, we'll be slapping and griping for the next few week but probably not allowing us to enjoy every moment of this seasonal beauty.
Garden work awaits and I must go.
Ahhhhh!
Happy Monday.
