Monday Miscellany

I'm starting off today with this golden oldie of young Willie riding Tiny at our farm on Great Northern Road.

Tiny was my first official horse.

She was a Half Arabian which we raised from a baby on our North Boyer Farm.

I took her in 4-H, as did my sisters.  Tiny didn't have a lot of get up and go, but she was dependable.

I posted the photo because every year I remember Tiny on June 6, as she was born on this day in 1963.

Happy Birthday in Horse Heaven, Tiny.

Steve Rice:  a farrier with a tutu.

CB's not so sure about this guy.

I don't even have to mention that we had a wet day yesterday.  It's evident from most of the photos.

After Bill returned from church and ate his lunch, I suggested we get out of the house and watch it rain someplace else.

The "someplace" involved a drive to Priest River and then along the roads leading west on the south side of the Pend Oreille River.

Eventually, we ended up at a part of Albeni Cove recreation area which I had never visited. The rain stopped ever so briefly.

So, we checked out the place, and, as always, I enjoyed getting acquainted with some pleasant new faces from Oldtown and Clearwater who were out enjoying a very short dry spell.

We came home, bathed dogs and pretty much stayed in the house for the rest of the day.

When we heard of a ferocious, damaging storm coming, Bill went out and put the vehicles under cover. Happily, the promised hail never came, but the rain fell with great gusto.

Lots of puddles, lakes and stretchy angleworms out there this morning, but for the time being, no rain.

When and if it ever dries up, I'll have some lush, thick and wet grass to mow.

I read somewhere a couple of days ago that we have more than surpassed our needed moisture levels for this time of year.

So, it's okay to take a break, Mother Nature.

Happy Monday.  Enjoy the photos from both near and afar.

Scenes from Sweden and Norway with Annie Love

Annie is now enroute back to Seattle, having left Oslo, Norway, about 5 a.m. She said it would be a LONG day.

The best sight she'll see today is her own bed and a chance to catch up on sleep after almost two weeks of go, go, go.

She also took her required Covid test (a Flow Flex test purchased at CVS Pharmacy) via "teletest" on an Internet site /app called Azova.

"It required $20 and I had to bring a flow flex brand rapid test and I scheduled my test time in advance of leaving.

"They watched me do the test via video on my phone.  Withina few minutes I had my pdf results to use at the airport."

Yesterday she drove from Sweden back to Oslo, Norway, and captured some more wonderful photos.
