Wet Dog-Daze, Again, Etc.

This has been a banner year for towels around the Lovestead.

Once more I'll be washing them, folding them, stacking some outside in the garage, covering the furniture with them.

Three days of rain coming, so the towels will be busy once again, trying to protect the furniture from dog residue and drying off the dogs when they come in.

I'm glad that both Liam and Bridie happily jump up on a crate in the garage for their toweling.  Both love it.  Little Foster gets bundled in a towel and taken to the living room like a babe in arms where I then sit with him and dry him off.

Towel time for dogs around here is pure heaven; not so much for the humans, but we get 'er done and often during all these rainy days.

I'm relieved that we made good use of the dry days, with the garden, lawn mowing, weed eating and other outdoor projects.

We'll get a weekend's rest and then be ready to tackle tall grass and dragging hoses all over again.

In other news, as the days wind down for our upcoming trip to Ireland, Bill and I have been watching the last few episodes of a PBS show called "Ireland with Michael."

Michael, a singer, often infuses music into his shows, along with cultural aspects of Ireland.

The last episode featured another phenomenal Irish tenor named Glenn Murphy.

The two paired up with the Irish classic folk song "Maggie."

Later, I did some research on Glenn Murphy whose duets with fellow singer Ronan attracted the attention of Adele.  She was so impressed that she asked them to come to the stage and sing at one of her concerts.

I also found a You Tube video with them singing some Ed Sheeran songs from his album "Divide."

So, for a rainy day ending to today's post, I hope you enjoy their hauntingly beautiful talent (videos below) as much as I did.

Happy Friday.

Since yesterday, Annie has wrapped up her stay in Finland, flown back to Norway, driven to Sweden and has done a little geocaching prior to another Mega Event this weekend.

She'll work at the event, then go back to Oslo and fly home to Seattle on Monday.

Quite a trip!

Mega Sweden 2022: a new event with a lot of history!

Mega Sweden is a Mega-Event with all that that entails: opportunities to meet other geocachers from near and afar, lectures, workshops, geostores, guided tours, games and various other activities. We are anticipating about 1000 visitors from Sweden and many other countries.

Mega Sweden is an event with a long history. The first event in the series was held in 2003 and the event (originally called "Fumble After Dark", later "Mega Sweden FAD") has been held every year since then, with every event since 2010 being a mega. This event is the original inspiration for lab caches since we had temporary caches created just for the event but with a lot of electronics and this was enjoyed by Bryan Roth (one of the founders of geocaching.com) who brought the idea home after his visit here in 2011.

Previous events in the series have released a number of caches for the event, and these have always been night caches released towards the end of the day program. This year, in order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of geocaching, we are moving Mega Sweden to a somewhat lighter time of the year and in order to make space for even more interesting programming, we are moving the release of the event-specific caches to the day before the event so that the cache-hunting won't interfere with experiencing the event program. This means that at least most of the event caches won't be night caches. This does not necessarily mean that Mega Sweden is done with night caching for ever. We'll see what happens next year!

The event takes place in Konsert & Kongress at Konsistoriegatan 7 in Linköping. It's the same entrance as the tourist information, so you can follow signs for that.

Opening hours are 10:00-19:30

The registration for Mega Sweden 2022 is now open! See you in June!
