"You keep what you have by giving it away."
I heard this comment last night while watching a segment of the CNN heroes awards.
The words came from a young man from Philadelphia who established a neighborhood community center called Young Chances Foundation.
The story in the link above includes Tyrique Glasgow's life of troubles while growing up in South Philadelphia and his later epiphany, while in prison, which led to his founding of the Young Chances Foundation.
One interesting factoid about Tyrique: he was shot 11 times while growing up---which was not that unusual in his neighborhood.
His story is very inspirational, as were the other CNN hero profiles.

My friend and former student Dr. Barry Stoddard from Fred Hutchinson Center in Seattle sent me an assignment over the weekend.
His publisher Koehlerbooks is seeking opinion on what would be the best cover for Barry's upcoming release Baikonur Man.
So, Barry has asked me to cast my vote and to pass the word to any and all who are looking forward to his book, which is due out in the spring.
All you have to do is click on the link below. It will take you to a page which includes both cover concepts along with a synopsis of the book.
Once you've read the synopsis, simply click on the cover you prefer.
And, feel free to pass along the assignment to anyone you know. The publisher is looking for significant feedback on this decision.
Thanks for taking the time; I know Barry will appreciate your help.
