I finished Baikonur Man last night.
Dr. Barry Stoddard, now I can tell you, as your English teacher and friend that it was, indeed, a good read.
I turned pages pretty quickly and found it a nice blend of memoir, global history, humor and vignettes of interesting people and places.
Even some interesting toilets and a few naked people in Berkeley.
Hope you are selling lots of copies, Barry.
For anyone who might want to read about American scientific research experiments going into Space on Russian satellites, it's available on Amazon and bookstores.
Yesterday seemed to be a day for finishing stuff. The last of the leaf raking was completed in the morning.
The last of the funky, falling-apart standing garden planters went to the dump yesterday.
Bill and I also moved one of the newly assembled planters to the small kennel near the house.
I'm looking forward to dumping in some potting soil and getting started with some early seeding and transplanting.
I tried painted the planters around the deck, but the wood is still too wet. So, that will happen on another day.
Yesterday was a good day for the Border Collies. The ground is dry enough now that they can play to their hearts' content without needing a bath at the end of the day.
I looked in the barnyard and surmised that if we have a couple of dry days, I can drag it with the harrow, and the horses won't have such muddy feet.
Today we'll move on with the spring projects and enjoy the outdoors.
Be sure to check out the Thursday Throwback section below.
Happy Thursday.
Thursday Throwbacks:
Christine Moon and Debbie Ferguson spoke at the year-end SHS Student Council party many years ago.
Bill and Willie headed off for a bike trip from our former home on Great Northern Road.
This year, we're marking 17 years of living out here in beautiful Selle.
Time flies.
Our dad Harold demonstrating "proper" equestrian rules.
These two would probably give their dad some gentle coaching on equitation. Sisters Laurie and Barbara at our aunt's house during a visit to Michigan long ago. |
Talk about stylish! These are members of one of our 4-H Clubs many years ago. Locals of the right vintage should recognize some or all of them. |
Reddy Kilowatt does the Fourth of July Parade on Cedar Street in downtown Sandpoint. |
I would have to do some research to know who won the bet and the money.
SHS classmate Nancy Smith reigned as Jobs Daughters queen. I'm guessing that's Cory Moon on the left. On the right ???? |
Debbie and Buddy enjoy a dance at the young Love's wedding nearly 22 years ago.
Below: my sister Laurie posted a picture of her horse Rusty on Facebook earlier this week. It was Rusty's 24th birthday.
So, 24 years ago, these were April and Rusty as babies.
