Summertime in May

It's only May 15, but the indoor fans are going and mosquitoes are biting first thing in the morning.

We've definitely switched in to summer mode around here, and it is beautiful, 'cept for those mosquitoes.

Twas a fine and pleasant weekend, filled with great memories.

Mothers' Day could not have been any better with reminders as to why Motherhood is such a gift.

Willie and Annie are experiencing banner weeks in their lives, albeit very different situations.

Bill and I are very proud parents.

This week Willie and Debbie will fly to Iowa where he will receive an honorary doctorate from Grinnell College.

More on that as it gets closer.

Annie's Camino walk challenges in Spain were just validated a few minutes ago by Irish John O'Neill.

Irish John, a wonderful man, has walked two Caminos with Annie.  He'll be walking another with his grandson next month.

When he learned via our Whats App exchange this morning that Annie's walking another Camino and went to her link, he wrote:  You certainly picked the toughest route possible, but that doesn't surprise me.

Annie is still relying on cows for much of her communication during the days of walking, but she's making her way through that tough route, putting one foot in front of the other.

You can check below for her latest news.  She said she found the last bed available in a little town for tonight's sleep time.

Willie, Debbie, Bill and I drove out to Ice House Pizzeria  in Hope yesterday for the best imaginable setting possible to enjoy Mothers' Day pizza.

Seventy plus years in this area, and I'm still blown away by the view from the deck of the pizzeria.

One never tires of its pure beauty and majesty.

Bill has already left to go meet some clients on this gorgeous morning where a breeze is blowing, and I can hear the chimes on the deck.

He added to our collection of wind-blown melodies with a Mother's Day present yesterday.  It's tones are modeled after those in "Amazing Grace," but I will note that I haven't heard the song in the wind yet.

Today I'll finish my planting by working up a spot near the barn for the potatoes.

And, I'll find a place to plant the rose Annie gave me for Mothers Day.

It's a beautiful time of year with lilacs and columbine beginning to burst out with their respective colors.

Happy Monday.

Annie says this place is old.
