Homespun

People came, ate and listened.

Cows and horses stood by watching while chickens foraged in their enclosure nearby.

It was a gathering for Homespun.

And, a good time was had by all.

Homespun, formerly known as Just for Mama, included Mama Christina, hubby Jimmy and daughters Hilary and Chloey.

They've been picking, plucking and strumming and singing together since about 2005 when Jimmy decided to teach his daughters how to play a variety of stringed instruments.

Homespun has been putting on late summer concerts at Pat and Candy Moon's farm at Sagle for three years.

It's a potluck affair, and throughout the first half of the concert Jimmy kept asking about the pulled pork, hoping there'd still be some when the band took a break.

Candy saw to it that they didn't go hungry.

Homespun dished out some foot-stompin', hand-clapping bluegrass favorites and some of their originals, including a hilarioius song about Idaho with lyrics conjuring up a few Napoleon Dynamite comparisons.

Bill and I were thrilled to be invited to this annual affair which includes Moon family members, friends and neighbors.

We loved the music, had fun visiting and enjoyed getting to know this talented family who moved to the Sandpoint area from Prescott, AZ, a few years ago.

Thanks so much, Pat and Candy for hosting, Chris for inviting and Homespun for putting on a wonderful show.

When you can get the livestock to gather round for your music, you're doing okay!

Happy Sunday.  Enjoy the pictures.

Pippy joined the group for a song with her guitar and voice.

A You Tube sample of Homespun when they were known as Just 4 Mama, performing in Arizona.

A few banjo and mandolin jokes followed by "Wildwood Flower."

Homespun hosts, Candy and Pat Moon.

Chloey, at one time, reigned as Arizona champion banjo player. Guess who might take lessons from her.
