This, That; Throwbacks

With the recently revived morning routine of feeding the horses, I soon realized that Bridie would have to make some changes to her routine.

It took a couple of days, but soon she was engaged in tending to the horses by running the barnyard fence.

It was especially dramatic when the horses would buck and kick around the barnyard.

In Bridie's eyes, they need to be disciplined.  In my eyes, the race around the fence eventually leading to a Border Collie trench is not fun.

So, as of today, she'll go to her spot where she's tethered to the fence and can watch the horses from afar.

After chores, we go for a walk.

The dogs and Bill and I all worked outside after dinner last night.  Bill chopped wood where a tree had to be felled last year to help our satellite reception.

I painted fence in the same area. Bridie spent time in the woods while Foster with nose to the ground circled the house several times.

It was the first after-dinner work time for this spring.  I was thinking last night how nice it is and then thinking that we'll be banished to the house in the evenings when the mosquitoes come back.

Always adjustments.

Speaking of major adjustments, today we're researching homeowners insurance options after learning Monday that the company that has covered us for several years has dropped us.

No more policies in Idaho for United Heritage, I'm told.

We've been with the same local agency for 40 years, dating back to the time when our friend Bernie McGovern ran the firm. His brother-in-law and my classmate Mike Parkins watched over our policy in later years.

Through that time, it's all been great, but it's not at all fun getting a letter in the mail and learning we have to make some changes fairly quickly.

Always adjustments but not always expected with longtime business relationships.

I was told it's nothing personal.

So, we'll do our homework, and hopefully by the deadline in May will have continuing coverage.

Thursday Throwbacks:  lots of springtime photos today and one with a birthday girl.  Happy Birthday, Jean (pictured just below on the right with her daughter Lorna).

This national advertisement was sent to me several years ago by the local museum curator.

That man in the ad, operating the dozer and pushing snow in downtown Sandpoint, is our dad Harold Tibbs.

I can remember those days way back in the 1950s when Harold cleared streets along with his job as city water filter operator.

Harold knew his heavy equipment.

The students at Selle Valley Carden School on a mission with their teacher.

I met this avid angler a few years ago while visiting Trestle Creek Recreation Center.

This was back in the day when I had no fear and rode my young Lefty at home for the first time. He's now 17, and I have fear.

Easter egg hunt at the Lovestead with sister Laurie, Emma (Willie and Debbie's exchange student from Germany) and sister Barbara.

Our friend Randy Curless putting on a herding demonstration at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds a few years back.

Our beloved Kiwi helping Bill find a geocache. What a wonderful introduction to the Border Collie breed she was.

As you will notice in the top photo, this fence is on the list to be painted.
