It's a Wrap; Next . . . .

On this day after the three-day horse show, the sky has parted and left us with some much-needed moisture.  Heck, it was even squishy when I walked the dogs to the hay field earlier this morning.

Even if rain had come Friday, Saturday or Sunday, it would not have dampened the spirits of those who participated, delegated or spectated the Emerald Empire Arabian Horse Club's second annual September Showcase.

I'd suggest, with almost certainty, that a good time was had by all.

New friends were made, tummies were satisfied with Scott and Barb Marcincowski's generous breakfasts and dinners, plaques (featuring our mother's artwork) went to winners in every class.

And, all the pretty horses, ponies AND MULES strutted their stuff with riders aboard.

From what I heard, the show was a financial success, thanks to entry fees and a multitude of generous sponsorships.  That means that the juniors on the judging team will be able to travel to Tulsa, Okla., next month and compete in the Arabian Nationals annual horse judging contest.

We realized this weekend that kids from Bonner County have been competing in that event for about 50 years, and at least three have won first place nationally in their division.

So, lots of work, lots of learning and lots of loving horses was involved this weekend.

Good job, EEAHC!

Thanks for the memories.

As for me, I'm turning the page and heading off later this morning for a Sandpoint High Class of 1965 reunion committee meeting.

We are celebrating our 60th this weekend, and, of course, we'll all celebrate the fact that we're still alive to celebrate.

So, a busy but fun first week of fall ahead.

Happy Monday.  Enjoy the photos, and play the music at the bottom as you scroll.
